Abstract: An access point and a method for transmitting information about an MIH(Media Independent Handover) protocol are provided to inform a mobile node whether an access point in a heterogeneous network, to which the mobile node wants to move, supports the MIH protocol defined by IEEE(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) 802.21 specifications. Abstract: A method and an apparatus for supporting fast handover in a mobile terminal are provided to implement fast handover by removing an unnecessary communication process between a mobile node and an AP(Access Point).
