Abstract: Esta invencion es una coraza protectora (18) para una unidad para tomar muestras de sangre que está acoplada de manera movil a un adaptador (10) que tiene una aguja (12) unida. La unidad para tomar muestras de sangre desmonta o se vuelve a montar de manera segura cuando la aguja es cubierta por la coraza. En una modalidad de la invencion, un protector de la punta (42), unido de manera removible al adaptador, se extiende a todo lo largo del portatubo (44) para evitar los piquetes de agujas. La unidad para tomar muestras de sangre y el portatubo pueden montarse y desmontarse cuando el protector de la punta está unido al adaptador, cubriendo la aguja. El protector de la punta se remueve durante un procedimiento clínico y se reemplaza después de que el procedimiento clínico finaliza.

A blunt cannula, usable with the injection site, carries a locking member.
