Abstract:
Concurrent sequential processes synchronize by intra-process amend operations and inter-process operations. To each interactive subset of processes a part of an associated I/O channel is assigned. Each inter-process operation includes one or more update operations for exchanging information between an associated process of the pair and its in-channel part, and also one or more adapt operations for in-channel moving of information between the respective parts assigned to the processes of the pair.
Abstract:
In a three lamp, three light valve projection system, the lamps are energized sequentially in a three phase illumination cycle. The light therefrom is separated by an optical system composed of a three by three array of nine mirrors, all but one of which must be dichroic, to produce red, green, blue color sequential illumination of each light valve. Each light valve, which is controlled by a different control signal derived from an input video signal, is illuminated by a different color sequence such that during each phase of the illumination cycle, each light valve is illuminated by a different color. When the output beams from the light valves are converged over the same area of a screen, the phases of the illumination cycle occur at the field rate of the input video signal, whereas, when the output beams are arranged to produce a tiled image, the phases of the illumination cycle occur at three times the field rate.

Magnetic head having a head face (1) and comprising a substrate (3) which is provided with a multilayer structure (5) with electrically conducting head elements (7) which are electrically arranged between electrically conducting connecting tracks (9; 11). For realizing the required connecting tracks in a simple manner, a set of connecting tracks (9) is implemented substantially as a common electric conductor (9A).
Abstract:
A technique for uniformly depositing particles, especially phosphor particles, onto a display panel and an apparatus for carrying out this technique are set forth in this application. This technique relies on both electrostatically and pneumatically passing charged particles to the display panel so that a uniform coating takes place both on the flat surfaces and on the curved surfaces.
Abstract:
This invention pertains to a coffee feeding device wherein the coffee that is extracted is foamed in order to give a good mouth touch. The device comprises a mixing chamber (9) in which a rotor (11) is driven. An air feeding pipe (5) is connected to the mixing chamber. Extracted coffee is introduced in the mixing chamber. Rotation of the rotor causes a suction of air which is mixed with the extracted coffee to obtain a foamed coffee in order to give a good mouth touch. Preferably, the rotor (11) is driven by a motor (7). To arrange the motor outside the mixing chamber, the rotor is magnetically coupled to the motor.
Abstract:
In a method of processing an image, the image is divided in one or more blocks. Separate blocks are spatially frequency transformed in that pixel-values of said blocks are transformed into spectral coefficients. A noise level of the image is estimated and reduced spectral coefficients are derived from spectral coefficients and the estimated noise level. Pixel-values for a processed block are synthesized from the reduced spectral coefficients and the processed blocks are assembled into a processed image. The noise level is estimated from the image information within the image. Preferably, a few parameters relating to the circumstances under which the image was acquired are also taken into account for estimating the noise level.
Abstract:
An audio amplifier (20) is described, which comprises an arrangement (300) for influencing an audio signal applied to the audio amplifier (20). This arrangement (300) comprises an amplifier for additionally amplifying a high-frequency range of the audio signal relative to the rest of the audio signal. This additional amplification takes place once a value of the audio signal has exceeded a limit value. The additional amplification only takes place for a brief period of time. The audio amplifier according to the invention additionally amplifies high-frequency peaks in the audio signal for a brief period of time. The rising and falling slopes of these peaks are briefly enlarged as a result. Especially for pop music this appears to be an attractive effect.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for channel identification utilizing two Least-Squares (LS) estimators is disclosed. Each LS estimator is used for calculating a sequence of channel values, further for determining an estimated channel impulse response, over an entire frequency band thereof in light of the fact that information is incomplete or unreliable over part of the frequency band. Each LS estimator operates for the case when the estimated channel impulse response span is less than the span of a known test signal, the test signal having been transmitted over the channel for use in identifying the channel. In a TV ghost-cancellation system for removal of channel induced distortion from received signals, each LS estimator is used to compute channel impulse response coefficients, wherein the system includes ghost-cancellation filters responsive to the channel impulse response for removing the effects of the channel from the signals.
