Abstract:
An improvement in a process for coating a surface with a aqueous paint composition containing as the primary film-forming components: a synthetic polycarboxylic acid resin as the main binder component; an amino resin as a heat curing cross-linking agent for the polycarboxylic acid resin and a neutralizing agent for neutralizing the acid groups of the polycarboxylic acid resin, is provided. The improvement is applying the aqueous paint composition to the surface as two compositions (A) comprising a synthetic polycarboxylic acid resin having a neutralization degree of 30 to 70% and an amino resin; and (B) comprising a synthetic polycarboxylic acid resin having a neutralication degree 30 to 80% higher than that of the polycarboxylic acid resin of (A) and an amino resin, or (C) a neutralizing agent comprising ammonia or an organic amine.
Abstract:
A paint composition which can be applied from a spray can yet which can be cleaned with water. The composition comprises a water-soluble, neutralized resin film former contained in a water-soluble solvent, but has a maximum water content of 10 weight percent. Formulations can be provided to obtain coatings ranging from flat to high gloss.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a product and a manufacturing process for an aqueous dispersible dendritic polymer with various functionalities, and polymer compositions and polymer formulations comprising such a dendritic polymer. The aqueous dispersible dendritic polymer composition comprises a hydrophilic functional group to allow dispersion in aqueous solvents and improve washability of the polymer, a low surface tension functional group to impart resistance to dirt pick-up and optionally, a curable functional group to allow superior cross-linking capabilities and optionally, a softening functional group to impart flexibility to the composition.
Abstract:
The present invention includes coating compositions having a microgel, wherein the microgel is prepared from a carboxyl functional polymer and a hybrid crosslinker system, wherein the hybrid crosslinker system has a first crosslinker having an epoxy resin and a second crosslinker having a thermally active crosslinker.
Abstract:
The present invention provides novel compositions prepared from a first oligomer containing reactive functional groups capable of reaction at effective rates (at normal processing temperatures) with a co-reactive second component possessing functionality that is complementary to that of the first oligomer. The compositions may be used as coatings, including hard surface coatings, clear coatings, powder coatings and pattern coatings; as adhesives, including pressure sensitive adhesives and not melt adhesives; as sealants; as optical coatings; as blown microfibers (BMF); as high refractive index optical materials; as barrier films; in microreplication; as low adhesion backsizes, (LABs) and release coatings.
