Abstract:
A transparent conductor is provided, including a visible light transparent substrate and metal traces disposed on the substrate, and a layer of a second metal deposited on at least a portion of the metal traces. The transparent conductor further includes a layer of a second metal, which conforms to the surface structure of the metal traces on which it is deposited. Optionally, the transparent conductor also includes a coating layer disposed on a portion of the metal traces and the substrate surface. The coating layer includes a polymer prepared from a polymerizable composition containing at least one ionic liquid monomer. A method of forming a transparent conductor is also provided, including obtaining a visible light transparent substrate having metal traces disposed on the substrate and applying a coating composition on a portion of the metal traces and substrate. The coating composition contains at least one noble metal salt and at least one polymerizable ionic liquid monomer.
Abstract:
This disclosure relates to viscoelastic damping materials and constructions which may demonstrate low temperature performance and adhesion and which may be used in making vibration damping composites. Viscoelastic damping materials and constructions may include polymers or copolymers of monomers according to formula (I): CH 2 =CHR 1 -COOR 2 wherein R 1 is H, CH 3 or CH 2 CH 3 and R 2 is a branched alkyl group containing 12 to 32 carbon atoms.
Abstract:
Polymers, particularly those used in pressure-sensitive adhesives, are prepared from a mixture of structural isomers of a secondary alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer. The adhesives are characterized by exhibiting an overall balance of adhesive and cohesive characteristics and exceptional adhesion to low surface energy substrates.
Abstract:
Curable compositions, cured compositions, and articles that include the cured compositions are described. The curable composition contains a) an epoxy resin, b) a curing agent, c) a reactive liquid modifier, and d) a toughening agent. The cured compositions can be used as structural adhesives. The reactive liquid modifier is an acetoacetate ester of a dimer alcohol. The cured compositions can be used as adhesives such as structural adhesives or as polymeric coatings.
Abstract:
Compounds are described that have both an aziridinyl group as well as a polymeric group. Methods of making these compounds are also described. The aziridinyl group of the compound can be reacted with an acidic group on a second compound resulting in the opening of the aziridinyl ring and the attachment of the polymeric group to the second compound.
Abstract:
A shape memory polymer composition is described comprising greater that 90 wt.% cyclooctene, less than 10 wt.% of a multicyclic diene, comprising at least two cyclo olefinic rings with at least two reactive double bonds, and less than 2 wt.% of a metathesis catalyst.

Abstract:
Crosslinkable polymeric materials, crosslinked polymeric materials, articles containing the crosslinkable polymeric materials or crosslinked polymeric materials, and methods of making the articles and various compositions are provided. More particularly, the crosslinkable composition contains a) a first polymeric material, which has terminal dithiocarbamate or dithiocarbonate groups, b) a crosslinking composition containing a chlorinated triazine crosslinking agent and/or a crosslinking monomer having two or more ethylenically unsaturated groups, and c) a thixotropic agent containing metal oxide particles. The crosslinkable composition may be printable or dispensed. In some embodiments, the crosslinked composition is a pressure-sensitive adhesive.
Abstract:
Controlled radical initiators, reaction mixtures containing the controlled radical initiators and various ethylenically unsaturated monomers, and polymeric materials formed from the reaction mixtures are provided. The controlled radical initiators are bis-dithiocarbamate or bis-dithiocarbonate compounds with a single carbon atom between the two dithiocarbamate or dithiocarbonate groups. Polymeric materials such as homopolymers, random copolymers, and block copolymers can be prepared using the controlled radical initiators.
