Abstract:
A rheologically controlled glass lubricant for hot metal working comprises a glass powder, a binder, a rheological agent, and a weetting and viscosity modifier. These materials may be dispersed in a carrier. The lubricant is made by mixing the constituent elements, milling the mixture, and stabilizing the milled mixture. The lubricant can be used in a forging operation by coating a metal part with the lubricant, heating the coated part, placing the coated heated part in a forge, and rapidly applying sufficient pressure to deform the coated metal part into a desired shape.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The composition of the present invention is a carrier-free pulverulent forging lubricant having at least one component having adhesive properties at forging temperatures and the method of the invention is a method of forging a workpiece in a die which includes the step of spraying onto at least one of the die and the workpiece a coating of an effective amount of a carrier-free pulverulent lubricant composition at ambient pressure. The use of the composition and method of the invention significantly reduces smoke generation in hot forging operations by eliminating the use of oils or volatile organic compounds as carriers.
Abstract:
There are disclosed a dusting treatment agent for imparting inter-film lubricity to a film of a vinylidene chloride derivative resin which comprises a mixture of a component (A) a polyhydric alcohol, a component (B) an amphoteric or nonionic surface active agent, a component (C) a vegetable oil and a component (D) an inorganic powder; a vinylidene chloride derivative resin film having an improved openability because of being treated with said agent; and a method of treating said film with said agent.
Abstract:
