Abstract:
A dry cleaning system and method, in which specially designed or modified machinery is used in conjunction with a specific solvent which is derived from an organic/inorganic hybrid (organo silicone). In this class of organo silicones is a group known as cyclic siloxanes. The cyclic siloxanes present the basis for material composition of the solvent chemistry which allows this dry cleaning system to be highly effective. The cyclic-siloxane-based solvent allows the system to result in an environmentally friendly process which is, also, more effective in cleaning fabrics and the like than any known prior system. The siloxane composition is employed in a dry cleaning machine to carry out the method of the invention. In a preferred embodiment, the method comprises the steps of loading articles into a cleaning basket; agitating the articles and the siloxane composition in which they are immersed; removing most of the siloxane composition; centrifuging the articles; subjecting the articles to a partial vacuum pressure and elevated temperature; and removing the articles from the basket after cooling the articles and returning the pressure to ambient.
Abstract:
A method of dry cleaning articles such as clothing and the like including the use of Dipropylene Glycol Monomethyl Etheracetate as the cleaning solvent and the use of vacuum to assist in the removal of solvent from the articles and the use of vacuum distillation of the solvent after a cleaning cycle.
Abstract:
A relay which is operable at very low power levels and which is highly versatile in its applications is shown to be characterized by high gain and high reliability and by simplicity of structure. The relay comprises a first terminal mounted on a base of electrically insulating material and a second electrically conductive member having a terminal portion secured to the base, having a contact arm movable between an open circuit position spaced from the first terminal and a closed circuit position engaging the first terminal, and having integral spring portions connecting the contact arm and terminal portion of the second member for normally biasing the contact arm to one of the noted circuit positions. The relay also includes an actuator wire secured between the base and the contact arm of the second member. The actuator wire is formed of a nickel-titanium alloy and is adapted to be deformed from an original length to a second length as the contact arm is moved to the one circuit position in response to the noted spring bias while the wire material displays a relatively low modulus of elasticity below a transition temperature. The actuator wire is also adapted to abruptly return to its original length and to display a relatively higher modulus of elasticity to move the contact arm to the other circuit position against the spring bias when the wire material is heated above its transition temperature. Means are provided for electrically self-heating the actuator wire to its transition temperature when relay operation is desired.

A PROCESS OF DRYING CLEANING TEXTILES AND GARMENT MATERIALS WITH COMPOSITIONS INCLUDING 1,1,2/TRICHLORO-1,2,2TRIFLUOROETHANE, TRICHLOROMONOFLUOROMETHANE, AND METHYL CHLOROFORM, WHEREIN THE MATERIALS ARE WASHED AND DRIED AT LOW TEMPERATURE, TOGETHER WITH STEPS OR PROCEDURES FOR THE ECONOMICAL HANDLING AND RECOVERY OF SOLVENT.
Abstract:
A process for drycleaning fabrics such as garments and other drycleanable materials, particularly highly soiled garments, by using hydrocarbon and chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents. The process includes a plurality of phases in a cleaning cycle wherein soiled garments are agitated in drycleaning solvent in each of the phases by mixing the solvent of a first phase with a detergent having a substantivity for the garments, removing the solvent of the first phase from the garments while the detergent is substantively retained by the garments and combining the solvent of a second phase with the garments containing the detergent for continued cleaning.
Abstract:
A weaving method is provided to achieve color expression of a fabric even without dyeing the fabric, by weaving the fabric out of a fiber having an optical interference function. Yarns are prepared according to the organization type of a fabric, wherein the yarns include warp of polyester filament having one or more colors of white, yellow, red, green, blue, violet, and black, and weft of optical interference fiber having one or more colors of red, green, blue, and violet. The fabric is woven, considering a total warp unit number, weft density, fabric weight, and processed paper weight. The woven fabric is pre-treated with an additive at a temperature of 80-95‹C, and then dried and thermally set. The total warp unit number, the weft density, the fabric weight, and the processed paper weight are regulated to 9,000-13,000 units, 86-90 units/inch, 140-200 g/yd, and 150-190 g/yd, respectively. The additive is composed of souring agent of 7g/l, desizing agent of 8g/l, sodium hydroxide of 40g/l.
