Abstract: The object of the invention is a method and an apparatus for lubricating a rope laid from wires in the manufacturing phase of the rope. By means of the invention lubricant, e.g. lubricant (5) containing solid substances such as grease, a grease compound or a paste, is spread onto at least one wire (1) of each strand of the rope to be laid. The lubricant (5) to be spread onto the wire (1) is dispensed onto the endless surface (10) moving in a different direction with respect to the direction of movement of the wire (1) and is conveyed on the aforementioned endless surface (10) into contact with the wire (1).

Abstract: A steel cord (10) adapted for the reinforcement of rubber products, the steel cord (10) comprises a core (12) and three or more outer strands (14) twisted around the core (12) in a cord twisting direction. The outer strands (14) comprise outer filaments (16) twisted in a strand twisting direction which is the same as the cord twisting direction. The outer strands (14) have a wavy form which makes spaces between the core (12) and the outer strands. The steel cord (10) has improvements on elongation at break and impact resistance capacity.

Moreover, the plastic core (12) has a diameter exceeding 50 % of the diameter of the rope (10), when measured prior to winding steel strands (14) onto the core (12). Abstract: A steel cord for a rubber track main cord, where core filaments of a core strand is restricted from coming out of a rubber member. This is achieved by causing rubber to penetrate to core filament surfaces of the core strand without reducing a cord breaking load. A core strand (22) of a steel cord (10) is constituted of one core filament (22C) and five sheath filaments (22S) twisted around the core filament (22). Six sheath strands (26) are twisted around the core strand (22). A rubber member is highly penetratable into the core filament (22C) because sufficiently wide gaps are held between the sheath filaments (22S). The structure above realizes the steel cord (10) where the core filament (22C) is restricted from coming out.
