Abstract:
A vent controlling apparatus (10) comprising an actuator (18, 30, 23) adapted to open and close a vent, means for converting energy (16) to provide power for the actuator, and control means (60) operative to control the actuator in response to a wirelessly transmitted control signal. The actuator may be a chain actuator and the means for converting energy may be a solar panel or photovoltaic cell. Wireless transmission by a remote transmitter (51) of one or more control signals may be used to remotely control the operation of the actuator to open or close a vent. A remote transmitter may be adapted to transmit an open or close command without user input to thereby automate the opening and closing operation. Automated operation of the vent may be dependent upon an environmental condition.

Abstract:
Provided herein is a curb-mounted skylight having a rigid plastic curb frame, a mechanism for firmly securing the curb frame to an opening in a building, a transparent or translucent covering element, and a mechanism for retaining the covering element on the frame. The curb frame includes a fixed base frame (having an interior frame and a counter-flashing element) and a moveable sash frame (having an accessory shelf and a sash). The base frame and the sash frame may be connected to one another by a first hinge member integral with the counter-flashing element and a cooperative and complementary-shaped second hinge member attached to the sash. The hinge members form a watertight seal and may be disengaged to permit the sash to be removed from the skylight assembly during installation, if so desired. Because the frame and hinge components are made of plastic, the skylight assembly is relatively lightweight.

Abstract:
A power operating system for opening and closing a vehicle liftgate (12) has a pair of drive units (22) supported on the vehicle roof and connected to the liftgate for opening and closing the liftgate. Each drive unit (22) includes a bracket (24) that is secured to the vehicle body for supporting several parts including a reversible electric motor (26), a gear unit and a track (30). The electric motor (26) drives a segmented sector (60) inside the track (30) via a pinion gear (28). The segmented sector (60) includes an elongated, arcuate toothless push link (62) that is guided by an arcuate track portion of the track and a plurality of short drive links (64) that are driven by the pinion gear (28) and stored in a storage track portion (54) when the liftgate (12) is closed. The pusher link (62) has an outboard end that is pivotally connected to the liftgate (12) to open and close the liftgate as the push link (62) is extended and retracted by the drive links (64).
Abstract:
An electric operator device (1) for opening and closing a window (2) with pivotal sash (5) and comprising an operator housing (4) designed to be fastened to the frame (3) of the window, preferably to the top member thereof, said operator housing having a built-in drive motor in transmission connection with an operating member (6), which in the closed position of the window is accommodated in the operator housing (4), and a mounting bracket (9) for connecting the operating member (6) with an operating means (7), connected with the sash of the window, preferably the top member thereof. The window (2) can, in the closed position and affected by said operating means (7), be locked by engagement between locking means (11) in connection with the sash (3), preferably the top member thereof, and a strike plate (8) fastened to the frame (5), preferably to the top member thereof. The electric operator device is characterized in that the operator housing (4) comprises a strike plate (8) which is fixedly positioned relative to the frame (3) by means of co-operating positioning means (13, 16, 17) arranged on the frame (3) and the strike plate (8).
Abstract:
The invention pertains to a chain drive for bottom-hinged or top-hinged open-out panels, with an oblong box-type housing (5) that can be attached to the frame (1) and that has three chain-guide sections (12a, 12b, 12c) running parallel to longitudinal side of the housing (5), with connecting sections (13, 14), and that has the requisite power chain drive (15, 15a, 22-26, 29) with drive axes (26, 15a) parallel to the chain-drive sections (12a, 12b, 12c). The chain-drive sections are essentially the length (L) of the housing and the fitting height of the drive motor (22).
