A container for a polarizable gas includes an elongate container sheet having a laminate of a sealing layer and a barrier layer, a sealed container cavity defined by the container sheet by perimetrically sealing the sealing layer upon itself so as to enclose the container cavity, and a quantity of a polarizable gas within the container cavity. A method of evacuating the polarzable gas from the container includes evacuating the passageway of a fitting attached to the container prior to puncturing the container and evacuating its contents through the fitting.

A flotation device is provided comprising a carrier mounted to the watercraft with the carrier having a first cover channel, a second cover channel, a first bladder retaining slot, and a second bladder retaining slot. A space is defined between the carrier and an elongated cover having a first edge and a second edge with the first edge releasably receivable in the first cover channel and the second edge releasably receivable in the second cover channel. A cover-removing bladder is receivable within the space and secured to the carrier. A flotation bladder is receivable within the space and secured to the carrier. An inflation mechanism connected to the cover-removing bladder and the flotation bladder inflates both bladders wherein the first edge of the cover is released from the first cover channel of the carrier allowing the flotation bladder to substantially completely inflate.

An apparatus for compressing a gas and its uses are disclosed. The apparatus comprises a fixed-volume container having a hollow and a moveable element subdividing said hollow into a first variable-volume portion and a second variable-volume portion, the second variable-volume portion having an opening for introducing therein a hydraulic and/or pneumatic fluid under pressure, for causing an increase in the volume of said second variable-portion by moving said moveable element, thereby, consequently, decreasing the volume of the first variable-volume portion and compressing a gas contained therein.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for storing and dispensing in liquid form a blend of fluids which normally fractionate upon boiling. The apparatus includes a container having an internal bladder dividing the container into two chambers. The first chamber contains the liquid blend, and the second chamber contains a pressurizing fluid in sufficient quantity to maintain the pressure on the other side of the bladder in the first chamber above the bubble point pressure of the liquid blend. In this manner, the vapor space above the fluid blend is eliminated, and thus the effect of fractionation caused by vaporization is essentially eliminated during dispensing or leakage of the blend from the package.
Abstract:
A system for delivering natural gas, from a pipeline, is loaded onto a movable transport by flowing the gas into multiple pressure vessels equipped with internal flexible bladders which will contain the gas until the pressure in the vessels equalize with the pressure in the pipeline. At that time, the transport will be moved to a compressed natural gas (CNG) re-fueling station. At the re-fueling station, the multiple pressure vessels will be connected to an un-loading conduit leading to the storage facilities. The natural gas will be un-loaded by pressure differential until pressures equalize, then pressurized hydraulic fluid will be pumped into the annulus between the bladder and the steel walls of the pressure vessel which will deflate the bladder and squeeze the remaining gas out of the bladder to storage. The transport is then disconnected from the un-loading facilities and returned to the pipeline for re-filling with natural gas.
Abstract:
A variable-volume compressed natural gas ("CNG") storage vessel connected to a line supplying pressurized natural gas is described. The vessel connects to a dispensing station having a connection head--a fitting that allows a vehicle tank quickly and easily to be interconnected with and disconnected from the dispensing station. When a vehicle tank is being filled, or alternatively when a storage vessel is being replenished from the gas supply line, a controller responds to the pressure within the storage vessel to vary the volume of that vessel.

A novel structure of pressure container is disclosed, wherein a safety valve is provided within an air injection valve of said pressure container, whereby even when the ambient atmosphere of said accumulator has been heated up to a high temperature because of a fire and the like, bursting of said pressure container may be prevented. A valve seat is formed inside of a valve casing and a fusible valve member is brought in contact with said valve seat, so that when the ambient temperature of said pressure container has been raised said fusible valve member may fuse to permit the gas pressure in the pressure container to be discharged to the exterior of the container. Said fusible valve member is filled within a hollow space of a cylindrical valve stem and said valve stem is provided with a passageway or passageways communicating with the interior and exterior thereof, so that when the fusible valve has been fused, the gas within the gas pressure container may blow away the fusible member in a fused state through said passageway or passageways to the exterior of the container.
