Abstract: A control system for a drive through includes processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to determine, using image data obtained from multiple cameras, a characteristic of a vehicle in a lane of the drive through. The processing circuitry can operate a point of sale unit to provide an indication of the characteristic of the vehicle. The processing circuitry can, responsive to detection of one or more of a plurality of vehicles using the image data, perform at least one of (i) initiating an alert via the point of sale unit for staff of the drive through, (ii) initiating an action to open an additional lane, or (iii) initiating a kitchen action to prepare one or more food or beverage items.

Abstract: To present a pickup location in a transportation service, a server device receives a request for ridesharing services from a rider's current location to a drop-off location. The server device broadcasts the request to drivers and receives an indication of acceptance of the request from one of the drivers. Then the server device provides a pickup location to the rider and the driver which is presented in a map display of the rider and driver's client devices. When the rider or driver's current location is within a threshold distance of the pickup location, the corresponding client device switches to an augmented reality mode and presents a camera view from a camera of the client device depicting real-world imagery. The server device provides information to the corresponding client device to present in the augmented reality mode overlaying the real-world imagery to assist the rider or driver in finding the pickup location.

Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting and labeling a collidability of obstacles within a vehicle environment are provided. The method may comprise generating one or more data points from one or more sensors coupled to a vehicle. The method may comprise, using a processor, detecting one or more obstacles within a LiDAR point cloud, generating a patch for each of the one or more detected obstacles, projecting the LiDAR point cloud into the image, performing a factor query on an image for each of the one or more detected obstacles, for each of the one or more detected obstacles, based on the factor query, determining a label for the obstacle, and, for each of the one or more detected obstacles, labeling the obstacle with the label. The label may indicate whether each of the one or more detected obstacles is collidable and not non-collidable.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for associating vehicle identification information with other visually captured information are provided. In general, a system can include a processor configured to receive an image from a camera located at a fueling station. The processor can be configured to apply an algorithm to extract various features from the image, such as a vehicle that is present in the image, facial features of a driver and/or a passenger of the vehicle, or a license plate of the vehicle. The features can be used by the processor to determine information from the features, such as the identity of the driver, the make/model of the vehicle, or an owner of the vehicle. The processor can then, based on the determined information, be configured to take a variety of actions and thereby reduce the likelihood of possible future losses associated with the vehicles or individuals present in the image.

Abstract: A system and method for enabling driver-to-driver communication includes a host vehicle with one or more cameras, one or more sensors, a router broadcasting a wireless local area network, and an onboard unit. The onboard unit uses information from the cameras and sensors to identify and determine the relative positions of one or more remote vehicles in proximity to the host vehicle. The onboard unit also receives unique communication identifiers for some of the remote vehicles. A driver is prompted to select a vehicle to message and the onboard unit sends a message based on the selection and the unique communication identifier for the remote vehicle.

Thus, even when the line of sight of the driver is turned to the rearview mirror or the side mirror during a route change of the own vehicle, an erroneous determination on an act-of-looking-aside state can be prevented.

Abstract: In a running distributed data storage system that actively processes I/Os, metadata nodes are commissioned and decommissioned without taking down the storage system and without introducing interruptions to metadata or payload data I/O. The inflow of reads and writes continues without interruption even while new metadata nodes are in the process of being added and/or removed and the strong consistency of the system is guaranteed. Commissioning and decommissioning nodes within the running system enables streamlined replacement of permanently failed nodes and advantageously enables the system to adapt elastically to workload changes. An illustrative distributed barrier logic (the “view change barrier”) controls a multi-state process that controls a coordinated step-wise progression of the metadata nodes from an old view to a new normal. Rules for I/O handling govern each state until the state machine loop has been traversed and the system reaches its new normal.

Abstract: Systems and methods of detecting a vortex made by a travelling object is disclosed. In some configurations, a graphic recognition algorithm and vortex similarity engine are used to determine whether a visual media file captured by a media collector contains a vortex. The vortex similarity engine may be configured to determine or identify certain properties about the travelling object based on the travelling object vortex. In some configurations, a computer may trigger an alert if a travelling object vortex is not expected to be in the visual media file.
