Abstract:
A system including a first device comprising a first radio communications unit, a video camera, and electronic computer means, and a second device comprising a second radio communications unit, video display means and electronic computer means, wherein the first device is adapted, upon receipt of a predetermined communication from the second device, to activate the video camera and to transmit live video data from the video camera to the second radio communications device, and wherein the second radio communications device is adapted to display the live video data on the video display means.
Abstract:
In videoconference camera selection, audio inputs (206) associated with cameras for a videoconference are each processed (210) into first and second audio energies (222, 224) respectively for first and second frequency ranges. The selection (240) then determines which of the audio inputs (206) has a greatest ratio of the first audio energy (222) to the second audio energy (224) and selects (240) the associated camera view for outputting video for the videoconference. The selection can also process video inputs from the cameras either alone or in combination with the audio processing. Either way, the selection (240) processes each of the video inputs for at least one facial characteristic and determines which of the video inputs has a greatest likelihood of framing a human face. In the end, the selection (240) selects the associated camera view for outputting video for the videoconference based at least in part on this video-based determination.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly select a camera in videoconferencing.SOLUTION: Audio inputs associated with cameras for a videoconference are each processed into first and second audio energies respectively for first and second frequency ranges. The camera selection then determines which of the audio inputs has a greatest ratio of the first audio energy to the second audio energy and selects the associated camera view for outputting video for the videoconference. The selection can also process video inputs from the cameras either alone or in combination with the audio processing. Either way, the selection processes each of the video inputs for at least one facial characteristic and determines which of the video inputs has a greatest likelihood of framing a human face. In the end, the selection selects the associated camera view for outputting video for the videoconference, at least partially on the basis of the determination based on the video.
Abstract:
A presence aware communications system, comprising a messaging system configured to perform at least one of the following operations: (a) provide a subscriber's communication device with information regarding an incoming contact during a messaging session between the subscriber's communication device and the messaging system; (b) provide the subscriber's communication device with a text message containing information regarding one or more messages when a notification is received that the subscriber's communication device is available; (c) provide the subscriber's communication device with a text message relating to a voice message from a different first party received by the messaging system; (d) in response to the subscriber's communication device requesting a connection with at least one of an inputted telephone number and address, provide the subscriber's communication device with a notification respecting at least one eligible message from a second party associated with the at least one of an inputted telephone number and address; (e) while a contact between the subscriber and a different third party is in progress, provide the subscriber's communication device with information respecting the at least one eligible message from the third party; (f) transform an audio messaging session between the messaging system and the communication device of a contacting party into a graphical user interface-based audio session; and (g) transform the audio messaging session into a session having a video channel or both audio and video channels.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promote communication between speakers while restricting the use of images in which the speakers are photographed. SOLUTION: It is detected whether or not a person other than speakers exists in the vicinity of two mobile communication terminals 10 performing a video-phone call, respectively. Detection of nobody but the speakers means that only the speakers look at displays of the mobile communication terminals 10, and thus, communication of both parties is promoted by displaying the photographed images of intended parties on the displays. Meanwhile, detection of the person other than the speakers means that a third party other than the speakers might look at the displays of the mobile communication terminals 10. Thus, avatar images instead of the photographed images of the intended parties are displayed on the displays. Therefore, the privacy of the intended parties can be protected.
