Abstract:
The present invention relates to a curable polymeric resin composition comprising a resin component, a curative system comprising at least one component in the form of an amine based curative, and a multistage polymeric particle. The polymeric resin composition has a viscosity of less than 100 mPa.s at a temperature of 110°C.
Abstract:
A fiber tow spreading apparatus comprising: fiber supply for supplying a fiber tow; a fiber spreader for spreading the filaments of the fiber tow to form a spread tow having an increased width; a guide member for directing the fiber tow in relation to the fiber spreader; a driver for driving the fiber tow in relation to the fiber spreader; wherein the driver comprises a moveable contacting surface to which the fiber is adhered.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a particulate curing component for a thermosetting resin, the particulate curing component comprising particles of a solid resin, wherein a curative for the thermosetting resin is dispersed within the particles of solid resin. The invention also relates to methods of forming particulate curing components and compositions comprising particulate curing components.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a process for the production of a fibrous material embedded in a matrix of liquid or semi solid curable resin. The process comprises the steps of applying the resin to a continuously moving web of the fibrous material and subjecting the moving web with the resin applied thereto to ultrasound.
Abstract:
Amino benzoates have been found to be useful curing agents for epoxy resins particularly para amino benzoates containing at least two primary amine groups and at least two carboxyl moieties, the amino benzoates are particularly useful as curatives in prepregs.
Abstract:
A method of controlling a process for the manufacture of a multicomponent sheet material having a desired pre-determined parameter comprising applying electromagnetic energy to interact with the sheet material whereby the interaction modifies the applied energy, detecting the modified energy, comparing the modified energy or data derived from it with data relating to the pre-determined parameter and modifying at least one step of the process whereby the data relating to the modified energy is modified towards the data relating to the pre-determined parameter.
Abstract:
A damped composite material comprising a damping material, a bonding material structural layer which comprises fibres and a structural resin material.
Abstract:
A prepreg comprising a fibre reinforced curable resin, the prepreg containing electrically conductive particles in the range of from 0.5 to 10% by weight based on the resin, the electrically conductive particles comprising potato shaped graphite.
Abstract:
A structure or laminate comprising a fibrous reinforcement material and a reinforcement resin material are described, wherein the structure or laminate further comprises a tack material, the tack material increasing the surface tack of the structure or laminate over a tack temperature range of from -10°C to 50°C in comparison to the original surface tack of the structure or laminate in the absence of the tack material over the same tack temperature range.
Abstract:
A process of forming a moulding material is provided, moulding process comprising: a) providing a substrate material; b) providing a support material comprising a moulding material comprising a resin material conjoined to the surface of a fibrous reinforcement material or a moulding material comprising a resin material at least partially impregnating a fibrous reinforcement material; c) locating said substrate material and said moulding material in relation to a mould; and d) forming the substrate and curing said moulding material to bond the moulding material to the substrate, the bonding is provided by step where an adhesive layer is applied between the support material and the substrate material, the adhesive layer extending beyond the moulding material.. The substrate material and the support material are provided in the form of a sheet moulding compound comprising a substrate material having conjoined thereto a moulding material comprising- a resin material conjoined to the surface of the fibrous reinforcement material, the method further comprising: a) locating the sheet moulding compound in a mould; and, b) forming the substrate and curing the resin material. Also, it 'is afforded a use of a support material to reinforce a formable material.
