The present invention relates to a two-layered twisted steel cord for reinforcing rubber articles, comprising a core (1) including two filaments and a sheath (2) including six or seven filaments wound around the core (1), in which an average twist pitch of the core (1) is set to be at least 30 mm, and when six filaments are used for the sheath (2), a ratio of diameter (ds) of each filament of the sheath (2) to diameter (dc) of each filament of the core, [(ds/dc) x 100], is set in a range of 58.0 %

Steel cord includes a first group and a second group. The second group is helically twisted around the first group with a cord twisting step. The first group includes a first number of first steel filaments. The first number ranges between three and eight. The second group comprises a second number of second steel filaments. The second number is equal to or greater than the first number. The first filaments having a twist step greater than 300 mm. At least one of the second filaments is polygonally performed in order to allow rubber penetration.

PURPOSE: A steel cord of a pneumatic radial tire is provided to keep technical advantage of the existing core-parallel 2+5 structure and to improve the durability of the tire by removing stress concentration on a core filament by two-dimensionally deforming the core filament. CONSTITUTION: A steel cord applied for a belt or a carcass comprising a pneumatic radial tire has a 2+5 structure composed of two core filaments arranged in parallel to each other and five sheath filaments for covering the core filaments. Two core filaments are deformed two-dimensionally. The diameter of the core filament is 0.15¯0.30 mm. The diameter of the sheath filament is 0.22¯0.40 mm. The diameter ratio(Dc/Ds) of the core filament and the sheath filament is 0.5

A steel cord for rubber reinforcement comprises a first group of core filaments having a number of m and a second group of sheath filaments having a number of n, m is three or four, the core filaments are forming a helix, the core filaments are not twisted together and being substantially parallel or the core filaments have a twist pitch being more than 300mm; the second group and the first group are twisted around each other, and the sheath filaments are forming a flattened helix in the same direction of the helix of the core filaments, and the sheath filaments have a cord twist pitch, at any cross-section of the steel cord, at least one interstice between two adjacent core filaments is present. The steel cord has improved abrasion resistance and can contribute to the reduction of the weight of the tire.

A steel cord (132) adapted to reinforce a breaker or belt ply in a rubber tire comprises a core group and a sheath group. The core group consists of two to four core steel filaments (102) with a first diameter d c and the sheath group consists of one to six sheath steel filaments (116) with a second diameter d s . The ratio dc/ds of the first diameter d c to the second diameter d s ranges from 1.10 to 1.70. The two core steel filaments (102) are untwisted or have a twisting step greater than 300 mm. The sheath group is twisted around the core group with a cord twisting step in a cord twisting direction. The ratio of the difference in residual torsions of the core group and the sheath group to the difference in saturation level between the core group and the sheath group ranges from 0.10 to 0.65, preferably from 0.10 to 0.60. The steel cord (132) has no flare and plastic deformation of the steel filaments (102, 116) can be reduced while still obtaining a steel cord (132) without flare. A twisting equipment (100) comprising a buncher (106) and a method of manufacturing said steel cord (132) is disclosed, too.
