Abstract: 본 고안이 적용된 선박용 계류 로우프는 중간 직조단계에서 브레이딩 스트랜드의 직조 구조를 개선함으로써, 로우프의 외표면이 매끈해지면 가닥간의 결합력이 높아 로우프를 반복적으로 굴곡시켜도 가닥이 풀리지 않아 요철의 날카로운 끝부분에 얀이 걸려 끊어지는 경우가 없어, 로우프의 내마모성이 개선된 것으로, 본 고안의 선박용 계류 로우프는 여러 가닥의 섬유를 모아서 한 방향으로 꼬아 얀(yarn)이 구성되고, 이어서 복수의 상기 얀을 직조하여 스트랜드(strand)가 구성되며, 이어서 복수의 상기 스트랜드를 한 가닥씩 또는 두 가닥 이상을 한 조로 묶어 이웃하는 것과 교차해서 직조하는 브레이드(braid)체로서의 계류 로우프로서, 상기 브레이드체는 로우프의 심을 이루는 내부 브레이드와, 이 내부 브레이드의 외주를 둘러싸는 외부 브레이드로 구성되며, 상기 내부 브레이드는, 먼저 복수의 얀을 한 방향으로 직조하여 야닝(yarning) 스트랜드를 형성하고나서, 이 야닝 스트랜드를 8가닥 이상 8 배수로 모아 한 가닥씩 이웃하는 가닥과 교차해서 직조되고, 상기 외부 브레이드는, 복수의 얀을 서로 이웃하는 얀끼리 교차해서 직조하여 브레이딩 스트랜드를 형성하고나서, 이 브레이딩 스트랜드를 16가닥 이상 8 배수로 모으고 다시 브레이딩 스트랜드의 두 가닥씩을 한 조로 하여 이웃하는 조끼리 교차해서 직조하여 형성된다.

Abstract: A compressible rope is disclosed comprising a plurality of strands. Interconnected outer strands form a sheath, and one or more inner strands form an inner core encased by the sheath. The inner core comprises a non-planar outer surface in contact with the sheath. The strands may be a monofilament or polyfilament material. The interaction between the non-planer outer surface of the core with the interior surface of the sheath can reduce bunching as well as the separation of the strands due to compressional forces.

Abstract: A hoisting member for an elevator system includes a core having strength components embedded in a matrix material. A coating can surround the core to protect the core and control the coefficient of friction of the outer surface based on a range of desired friction properties to prevent or inhibit slippage of the hoisting member when used in a traction elevator system. The strength components may be made from carbon nanotube material with the matrix material made from a polymer material. The hoisting member may also include other conductive material or fiber optic material. The hoisting member may also serve as the trailing cable in an elevator system. In doing so the hosting member transmits power and data between the elevator car and the elevator controller thereby eliminating the need for a traditional trailing cable.
