Abstract:
A color calibration chart may be created including a plurality of colors that are variations of a print color established for printing a reference color by a printing system using multiple colors. The colors in the calibration chart may be measured. A color from the calibration chart may be selected for printing the reference color which has a measurement value indicative of a color consistency within a predefined distance from a reference value for the print color.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a diagnostic system for biological samples is disclosed. The diagnostic system includes a diagnostic instrument, and a portable electronic device. The diagnostic instrument has a reference color bar and a plurality of chemical test pads to receive a biological sample. The portable electronic device includes a digital camera to capture a digital image of the diagnostic instrument in uncontrolled lightning environments, a sensor to capture illuminance of a surface of the diagnostic instrument, a processor coupled to the digital camera and sensor to receive the digital image and the illuminance, and a storage device coupled to the processor. The storage device stores instructions for execution by the processor to process the digital image and the illuminance, to normalize colors of the plurality of chemical test pads and determine diagnostic test results in response to quantification of color changes in the chemical test pads.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for the production of textured color selection swatches for point of purchase displays of custom blended paints, for color selection guides of dyed or printed textiles or for color selection extruded chips of custom colored plastics using a digital inkjet printer and custom blended inkjet inks based on a set of base inks that can be blended using commercial match prediction software and wherein a textured effect is applied as a component of the color selection aids. The textured effect may be achieved either by printing in three dimensions or printing a pseudo-three dimensional effect.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of selecting the most probable variant of a matching paint candidate colour standard for vehicle repair using a mobile device having a colour display and an input unit and which is capable of data exchange with a central computer via an at least partly wireless communication line, wherein verbal or symbolic characterizations describing visual differences between a selected candidate colour standard and identified variants are displayed on the display of the mobile device.
Abstract:
An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for selecting a finish for applying to an item. The apparatus includes a flexible translucent sheet 100, and at least one semi-translucent color 102 applied to the translucent sheet 100 such that a surface to which the translucent sheet 100 is attached is visible through the translucent sheet 100 and the semi-translucent color 102. The system includes the apparatus and a protective laminate surface covering the at least one semi-translucent color 102. The method includes providing a plurality of translucent sheets 100 each having at least one semi-translucent color 102, examining an item 502 to determine the type of finish of the item 502, selecting a flexible translucent sheet 100 according to the finish of the item 502, conforming and affixing the selected translucent sheet 100 to the surface of the item 502, and viewing the surface of the item 502 through the selected translucent sheet 100.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for matching the color of a dry color shade standard, said method comprising the steps of A) Measuring the dry color shade standard, B) Calculating a recipe for the dry color shade standard, C) Generating a virtual wet color shade standard based on the recipe for the dry color shade standard calculated in step B), wherein the virtual wet color shade standard is generated with wet characterisation data and D) Matching the virtual wet color shade standard. The method can be used for elaboration of color shades and batch adjustment in production of paints.
Abstract:
A fabric coulour measurement system comprising at least one pair of corresponding colour guides (2, 4), the or each pair comprising a first colour guide (2) to be washed and a second colour guide (4) to be dry-stored, wherein the guides comprise corresponding coloured fabric. The invention also comprises a method of consumer-measurement of colour change due to washing and a package containing a laundry composition in combination with the fabric colour measurement system of the invention.
Abstract:
A color measurement instrument is used as a shade card generator and printer. Spectral geometries of D/8, D/0, 45/0, 0/45, D(hemisphere)/8, D(hemisphere)/0 or others are applied. The light spectrum of the illumination source (2) lies in the range of 350 - 1100 nm. An integrating sphere (3) is used in the case of D/8 geometry. A detector (7.5) and an optical assembly (7.2, 7.3, 7.4) using a variable sample aperture are between the light source (2) and the sample.
Abstract:
A general purpose computer system is used to run a color selection application which operates to facilitate the selection of colors and the automatic generation of palettes of harmonious colors. The application is implemented in three pages, a color selection page, a results manager page, and a color composition page. The color selection page is used to select a plurality of colors that the results manager page can operate on to generate palettes of harmoniously related colors. The color composition page is used to experiment with the colors selected and palettes generated in order to arrive at a pleasing arrangement of colors. The results manager page contains functions and palette characteristics that an artist can specify in order to automatically generate palettes that contain groups of colors that have very specific contrast relationships to previously selected colors.
