    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a filter element useful for a clean room, by receiving an electret fiber sheet having charge, wherein the activation energy of polarized charge is 0.2eV or more, on the surface thereof in a receiver. CONSTITUTION:A high performance filter element is constituted of an electret fiber sheet having charge, wherein the activation energy of polarized charge is 0.2eV or more, on the surface thereof. The polarized charge in this fiber sheet is oriented to one direction to constitute an electric field. The quantity of said polarized charge is 7X10 coulomb/cm or more. This fiber sheet is formed by a method wherein a sheet like article is formed of an extremely fine fiber yarns comprising a polymer or glass with electric specific resistance of 10 OMEGAcm or more to be placed on a water electrode held to proper temp. and a high voltage DC current is applied to said sheet like article by using a needle electrode to form an electret fiber.
