Abstract:
The present invention concerns a method for welding the far ends of two elongated elements (1 and 4) together, whereby the above-mentioned far ends (2-3) are heated up to forging temperature by rotating a ring (5) clamped in between them. A flat ring (5) is provided between the far ends (2-3), whereby these far ends (2-3) are axially drawn towards one another and, as soon as the forging temperature is reached, the elements (1 and 4) are pushed towards one another with great force by exerting a dynamic force. The device (6) contains driving means (7) to rotate the ring (5), drawing means (8) to draw the elongated elements (1-4) towards one another and means to exert a dynamic force.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a welding accessory (1) to support and centre two pipe ends (2a, 2b) to be butt-welded. The welding accessory (1) comprises a central guide frame, (3, 4, 5a-d), over which the two pipes ends (2a, 2b) can be slid, provided with supports (13a-d, 16a-d) and with pressure means, for pressing the supports against the pipes walls. The supports (13a-d) have a triangular or trapezial shape and have a radius of curvature of the pipes. The space between the supports (13a-d) is filled by auxiliary supports (16a-d), also having a triangular or trapezial shape, which are pulled in place by springs (18a-d).
Abstract:
A welding apparatus, for welding pipe sections (1, 2) together to form an underwater pipeline, is arranged to weld pipe sections (1, 2) together when they are in a generally upright orientation with the bottom of an upper pipe section (2) abutting the top of a lower pipe section (1) that defines the end of a pipeline. The welding apparatus includes a rotary equipment holder (5) mounted for rotation about a generally vertical axis (8) and having a central opening (5A) through which pipe sections (1, 2) are able to pass as a pipeline is laid, a plurality of welding heads (12) angularly spaced about the rotary equipment holder (5), each head (12) being associated with a respective sector of the rotary equipment holder, and a welding head guide assembly (11) for fixing around a pipe section (1). The guide assembly (11) includes a guide track (14) for guiding movement of each of the welding heads (12) around the pipe section (1). The respective sector of the rotary equipment holder (5) is able to revolve around the pipe section (1) as the associated welding head (12) revolves around the pipe section (1).
Abstract:
Method for welding pipes (2, 3) to each other, in which the outer side of the one pipe is engaged tightly with the help of first clamping means and the outer side of the other pipe is engaged tightly with the help of second clamping means, in which the first and second clamping means are kept in line and with their ends close to or against each other by means of a rigid frame on which both clamping means are arranged, after which welding means are operated in order to make a welding seam from the outside for connecting both pipes, after which the frame with the first and the second clamping means and with the welding means is moved along and over the other pipe to the other end of the other pipe for repeating the aforementioned steps for welding the other pipe and a next pipe.
