Abstract:
A steel blank is placed in intimate contact along a joint interface with a blank of another metal, and the two blanks are welded along and throughout the interface by a superhigh-output electron beam thereby to obtain a metallurgical welded joint and to form an integral blank which is rolled or otherwise formed into a clad steel article.
Abstract:
Apparatus for externally welding a seam along abutting lengths of pipe with the pipe being supported on site in position, e.g., on the ground, the apparatus having laser transmitting means which includes optically coupled individual reflectors supported for orbital movement about the seam, the optically coupled individual reflectors serving to provide a folded multiple reflection path to the seam for transmitting a focused laser beam onto the seam along a predetermined section thereof below the pipe axis.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method of producing crack arrester consisting in that a hollow cylindrical blank (1) with a multi-layer wall and a discontinuity (2) provided at least in one of the layers is made so that the diameter and wall thickness thereof are smaller and greater, respectively, than the specified final dimensions of the crack arrester (5) and the blank (1) is then heated and rolled on a ring-rolling mill (4) uniformly over the entire length to the final dimensions of the crack arrester (5) so that the layers fuse to each other in the course of rolling.
Abstract:
This invention relates to automatic welding of confronting edges of two bodies between which is a groove to be filled with filler material and, more particularly, to conditioning, processing and use of control signals for automatic operation.
Abstract:
A gas shielding apparatus comprising a main gas jacket having induction heating means, and front gas jacket and rear gas jacket integrally disposed at supply side and discharge side of a member to be bonded or a member to be heated of the main gas jacket, wherein gas shielding is achieved by setting the internal pressure of the main gas jacket lower than the internal pressure of the front gas jacket and rear gas jacket, so that the holding time of the shielding gas jacket in the main gas jacket becomes long.
Abstract:
A welding complex in accordance with the invention comprises a machine for resistance butt welding, means for supporting the end part of the pipeline and holding means including a platform reciprocable axially of the pipeline and a plate with a device for carrying the pipe section to be welded, rotatable by a drive between the positions of loading a pipe section and aligning it with the pipeline. For loading the holding means with the plate rotated into the loading position, by longitudinally displacing a pipe section from the accumulator, the latter is arranged alongside the platform, so that the pipe section it delivers extends at an acute angle relative to the end of the pipeline.
Abstract:
An apparatus for fabricating multi-layer spiral tubes of the type that while the webs are being wrapped in a spiral form the adjacent edge portions of the webs are welded with each other to form spiral tubes, is improved in that the apparatus has a take-up drum for taking up the wrapped webs while rotating with the leading end of the web of the first layer fixedly secured thereto, a wrapping drum having the webs wrapped therearound and including a backing section for backing a welding location of the edge portions of the web of the first layer, a plurality of web feed devices provided adjacent one another for spirally feeding the webs on the wrapping drum of the spiral tubes of the preceding layers, a plurality of wrapping devices provided in combination with the respective web feed devices for spirally wrapping the web on the wrapped drum or the spiral tubes of the preceding layers, and a drawing device for drawing from the wrapping drum the spiral tubes that are being formed continuously.
Abstract:
A method of brazing aluminium parts with a solder of a melting point of 500-630.degree. C. and a flux of a melting point of 550-500.degree. C., the brazing being made by successively heating them at a comparatively low temperature of 580-660.degree. C. under an inert gas atmosphere filled in an elongated muffle which is made of carbon, graphite or carbon fibre-reinforced carbon, wherein the muffle which contributes to keep the atmosphere at a high purity shall not be damaged by the flux liquidized with the heating of the parts, and wherein carbon of the muffle works to keep the atmosphere inert whereby the flux itself is also prevented from oxidation.
Abstract:
Improved welding method and padeye processing speeds up the connection of individual joints by peripheral fusion welding while the joint to be added stands vertically atop an existing pipe string also standing vertical in the rig floor. A plurality of welders can operate to speed up completion of the weld by removing heat from the pipe during the welding process. Heat is removed by the use of fluid cuffs near the weld area and, optionally, by using a spool within the pipe string to dispense expansion cooled air against the inner pipe wall in the vicinity of the weld. A special improved padeye is provided for welding near the pipe ends for handling. The padeye has a divided profile, a hole for a lifting shackle, and it will be accepted within the skirt of the lead system of the driving hammer. The upper end of the padeye can be cut from the pipe while the pipe is resting, on rig related structure, on the lower surface of the padeye.
Abstract:
A pipe cutting machine capable of cutting saddles and mitres and combinations of saddles and mitres is disclosed. The machine uses the rotation of the pipe itself to power a cam drive assembly. The cam drive assembly powers a saddle cam and a mitre cam. The saddle cam and the mitre cam may be set such that a specific mitre cut, saddle cut, or combination of saddle and mitre cut may be accomplished. A cable assembly translates the rotation of the saddle and mitre cams to a torch carriage. The torch carriage in turn translates its movement concurrently to the torch itself, thereby cutting the exact saddle, mitre, or combination of saddle and mitre cut desired.
