Abstract:
A floor covering is described having a point-bonded nonwoven upper fabric layer and at least one backing layer. The floor covering has excellent abrasion and wear resistance. An antistatic floor covering comprising a point-bonded nonwoven upper fabric layer is also described.
Abstract:
An elongated pile article having an elongated support strand having a thermoplastic outer surface and having a width and a height; which is arranged in a wound package, comprising:
an overlapping, reversing helical array of said pile article where the helix angle is between plus or minus 10-30 degrees and the strand is facing outward and the base region of the filaments is facing inward and a substantial portion of the filaments on the two rows of the pile article extend outward in opposed directions from the strand substantially parallel to the package surface and with the strand facing outward throughout the package.
Abstract:
A combination of at least three floor or ground covering articles, A, B, and C, for placement in and around the entryway of a building is disclosed which provides more effective cleaning ability for pedestrians' footwear, thus better ensuring the inside of the building itself remains clean. Article C comprises 100% coarse monofilament carpet yarn, B comprises a lower degree of such coarse yams than C, and A has a lower degree of such yarns than B. Preferably, such articles are arranged in a manner in which article C necessarily is located outside the building and comprises 100% heavy denier coarse monofilament carpet yarn, article A necessarily is located inside the building and comprises from about 10 to about 20% heavy denier coarse monofilament carpet yarn and from about 80 to about 90% fine denier carpet yarn, and article B, which may be placed either outside the building, at a location nearer the building than article C, or inside the building, at a location nearer the entryway of the building than article A, comprises from about 30 to about 60% heavy denier coarse monofilament carpet yarn and from about 40 to about 70% fine denier monofilament carpet yarn. An alternative arrangement for a building having an airlock-type vestibule configuration is also contemplated.
Abstract:
A carpet material for a floor carpet to be used in a passenger compartment of an automotive vehicle. The carpet material comprises a pile layer formed of nonwoven fabric and serving as a skin. A base fabric layer is provided for supporting the pile layer and is formed of nonwoven fabric and integral with the pile layer. A backing layer is located at the opposite side of the base fabric with respect to the pile layer. The backing layer is formed of nonwoven fabric and integral with the base fabric layer. The nonwoven fabric forming the backing layer has a surface density ranging from 100 to 1000 g/m 2 and is formed of polyester-based fiber having a diameter ranging from 20 to 130 µm.

Abstract:
The current invention concerns a covering, such as a floor covering, wall covering or ceiling covering, said covering comprising a surface layer, and a substrate layer attached to said surface layer, said substrate layer optionally comprising one or more reinforced thermoplastic layers. Said covering further comprises a backing layer on the bottom side of said substrate layer, opposite to said surface layer, and a textile layer attached to the bottom side of said backing layer, optionally through a contact layer. The covering further comprises a coating applied to the bottom of said textile layer. The invention also provides a method for producing a covering, such as a floor covering, wall covering or ceiling covering.
Abstract:
A carpet constructed from a biodegradable nonwoven face layer and a backing layer that is biodegradable and/or recyclable. The face layer comprises a needle-punched nonwoven web formed from a blend of different fiber types each of which is biodegradable, the blend comprising face fibers having a relatively high decomposition temperature and thermally activatable binder fibers having a thermal activation temperature lower than the decomposition temperature of the face fibers. The binder fibers bind to one another and to the face fibers. The face fibers can comprise one or more types of fibers that are biodegradable. Suitable fiber types include but are not limited to wool, hemp, cotton, polylactic acid, jute, flax, kanaf, sisal, rayon, and silk. The binder fibers in some embodiments of the invention comprise low-melt polylactic acid.
