A first and a second heart beat signal (S1, S2) is detected by a respective first and second heart beat sensor (13, 14) at a respective first and second ear phone (11, 12) of the pair of ear phones. A detection unit (15) uses a time difference (25) between the first and second heart beat signal to determine which ear phone is located at the right ear and which ear phone is located at the left ear. The detection unit may comprise a switching unit (18) to guide multi - channel audio data of an audio source (17) correspondingly.
