Abstract: A system for removing long-chain and short-chain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from contaminated water using a regenerable anion exchange resin includes at least one first anion exchange resin vessel configured to receive a flow of water contaminated with long and short-chain PFAS compounds. The at least one first anion exchange resin vessel includes a first regenerable anion exchange resin therein having a high affinity for long-chain PFAS compounds configured such that a majority of the long-chain PFAS compounds sorb to the first regenerable anion exchange resin to remove a majority of the long-chain PFAS compounds from the contaminated water and produce a flow of water having a majority of the long-chain PFAS compounds removed. The system also include at least one second anion exchange resin vessel configured to receive the flow of water having a majority of the long-chain PFAS compounds removed.

Abstract: The present invention comprises a method for the generation of 227Th of pharmaceutically tolerable purity comprisingi) preparing a generator mixture comprising 227Ac, 227Th and 223Ra;ii) loading said generator mixture onto a strong base anion exchange resin;iii) eluting a mixture of said 223Ra and 227Ac from said strong base anion exchange resin using a first mineral acid in an aqueous solution;iv) eluting 227Th from said strong base anion exchange resin using a second mineral acid in an aqueous solution whereby to generate a first 227Th solution containing contaminant 223Ra and 227Ac;v) loading the first 227Th solution onto a strong acid cation exchange resin;vi) eluting at least a part of the contaminant 223Ra and 227Ac from said strong acid cation exchange resin using a third mineral acid in aqueous solution; andvii) eluting the 227Th from said strong acid cation exchange resin using a first aqueous buffer solution to provide a second 227Th solution.Purified thorium-227 of pharmaceutical purity and a pharmaceutical composition comprising the same are also provided.

Abstract: A water treatment method to generate potable water and a fertilisation or fertigation product comprises the steps of: passing a raw water stream through an anion exchange resin l4a, l4b to generate a potable water output; and regenerating the anion exchange resin using a weak potassium chloride solution to generate a product output comprising potassium sulphate and potassium bicarbonate suitable for use as, or as a precursor to, a liquid fertilisation or fertigation product. The anion exchange resin can be further regenerated using a strong potassium chloride solution to generate an output comprising potassium nitrate and potassium chloride. A water treatment plant is also claimed, comprising at least one anion exchange resin in fluid communication with a raw water inlet 16, a regenerant line in fluid communication with the anion exchange resin(s), a potable water conduit 22 in communication with an outlet of the anion exchange resin(s), a product output treatment vessel 40 and a further output vessel 46 in communication with the outlet of the anion exchange resin(s) for receiving the output of a second ion-exchange regeneration effluent, and a controller for selectively controlling the fluid flow from the outlet of the anion exchange resin(s).
