Abstract:
Systems and methods are presented to facilitate caching of programming from broadcast and/or content streaming services to a user device for local playback. In addition, metadata can be provided to guide the user in selecting, caching, or playing the cachable content. In some exemplary embodiments, a receiver or other user device can automatically select the programming to be cached based on a user's historical topic interest and listening history. In some exemplary embodiments, the metadata can also include DRM information that can limit the ability of a user to playback the content, so as to comply, if necessary, with operative legal requirements related to usage of the content.
Abstract:
A drill system for use with a drill rod includes a support member, and a drill assembly movably associated with the support member and configured to be connected to the drill rod. The system further includes a centralizing device movably associated with the support member and configured to receive the drill rod. The centralizing device includes a movable jaw and a latch arm connected to the jaw and configured to move the jaw between an open position and a closed position for retaining the drill rod. Furthermore, the latch arm has a locking feature configured to hold the latch arm in a locked position to thereby hold the jaw in the closed position.
Abstract:
The inventors disclose a new high performance optical sensor, preferably of nanoscale dimensions, that functions at room temperature based on an extraordinary optoconductance (EOC) phenomenon, and preferably an inverse EOC (I-EOC) phenomenon, in a metal-semiconductor hybrid (MSH) structure having a semiconductor/metal interface. Such a design shows efficient photon sensing not exhibited by bare semiconductors. In experimentation with an exemplary embodiment, ultrahigh spatial resolution 4-point optoconductance measurements using Helium-Neon laser radiation reveal a strikingly large optoconductance property, an observed maximum measurement of 9460% EOC, for a 250 nm device. Such an exemplary EOC device also demonstrates specific detectivity higher than 5.06xl0 11 cm√Hz/W for 632 nm illumination and a high dynamic response of 40 dB making such sensors technologically competitive for a wide range of practical applications.

The invention is also directed to a pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound according to formula (I) and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, and to methods for providing anesthesia in mammals by administering such a pharmaceutical composition.
Abstract:
The disclosure provides methods and materials for increasing the expression of a protein of interest such as an antibody by a cell. ABC50 expression or activity is increased which increases expression of the protein or antibody of interest. The disclosure also provides methods and materials for increasing the sensitivity of a cell to an endoplasmic reticulum stress agent such as Econozole by decreasing the level of ABC50.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus of constructing magnetic automata and related structures through the development of a self-assembled thin film array of magnetic nano-pillars. The method and apparatus provides the ability to configure patterns electrically on a device without all requirements of producing a complicated pattern on a semiconductor chip. This relieves, for example, the requirement for using very expensive lithographic tools in the fabrication of these structures. Provided is an architecture made from a self assembled thin film array of magnetic nano-pillars in a cross bar array that not only performs logic operations but also stores information.
Abstract:
An aerosol metering valve comprising: (a) a valve stem movable between a rest position and a firing position comprising: a body portion comprising a circumferential sealing surface (b) a valve body comprising: a body wall, and an internal chamber defined at least in part by the body wall; and (c) a metering gasket having an inner periphery defining an aperture, being disposed near the most interior end of the internal chamber and being configured to be able to form a transient, substantially fluid-tight face seal against the circumferential sealing surface of the valve stem, where at the rest position of the valve stem, the body portion of the valve stem is located within the internal chamber and as the valve stem is moved from its rest position towards its firing position the circumferential sealing surface of the valve stem contacts the metering gasket to form a face seal thereby closing a metering chamber and thereafter further movement of the valve stem towards its firing position causes the metering gasket to deflect while maintaining the seal with the circumferential sealing surface of the valve stem; and wherein the metering gasket in an unbiased configuration is an annular disc having a substantially planar form and where the valve is constructed and arranged such that the inner periphery of the metering gasket is urged out of said substantially planar form at the rest position of the valve stem, or wherein the metering gasket is pre-biased into a dished-shape.
Abstract:
A combustor liner assembly (46) includes a liner assembly (56), including a hot dome (82), a hot wall (78, 80), and an impingement shield (76, 96). The liner assembly further includes a convector assembly (58). The combustor liner assembly further includes an impingement dome assembly (60), including a ring-shaped portion (104) defining a plurality of apertures (106) configured to receive a plurality of fuel injectors, and a face (126). The ring- shaped portion and the face define an annular passage (128), and the face defines a plurality of apertures and a plurality of orifices (130). The convector assembly and the impingement dome assembly are operably coupled to one another, and the plurality of orifices of the face are configured such that the hot dome is exposed to air flowing in the annular passage of the impingement dome assembly. The combustor liner assembly is configured to provide flow communication between the annular passage of the impingement dome assembly and the plurality of fuel injectors.
Abstract:
Neurite outgrowth-promoting prostaglandins (NEPPs) and other electrophilic compounds bind to Keapl, a negative regulator of the transcription factor Nrf2, and prevent Keapl -mediated inactivation of Nrf2 and, thus, enhance Nrf2 translocation into the nucleus of neuronal cells. Therefore, neuroprotective compositions and related methods are provided that employ such neuroprotective compounds, and prodrugs of such compounds, to cause dissociation of Nrf2 from a Keapl /Nrf2 complex.
