    Abstract: PURPOSE: A biphase structured polymer latex, its preparation method and a hair cosmetic composition containing the latex are provided, to obtain a styling effect and moisturizing effect by coating hair with the composition. CONSTITUTION: The polymer latex comprises a rigid polymer nucleus region having a crosslinked structure; and a flexible chain region surrounding the polymer nucleus. Preferably the latex has a cationic group. The method comprises the steps of mixing 5-90 wt% of a monomer forming a nucleus region, 1-50 wt% of a monomer forming a flexible chain region and 0.01-50 wt.% of a crosslinking agent based on 100 wt.% of monomers; and adding the mixture to an aqueous solution containing 0.1-5 wt% of a cationic initiator, and polymerizing it under nitrogen atmosphere at a temperature of 30-90 deg.C for 3-6 hours.
