Abstract:
The invention provides a grease composition comprising a base oil consisting of a fluorinated oil and an antirust agent, wherein said antirust agent comprises an aliphatic dibasic acid salt of the formula (1) in an amount of not less than 0.1% by mass and less than 1.0% by mass based on the total mass of the grease composition:
(CH 2 ) n (COO) 2 M m (1)
wherein n is an integer of 1 to 19, M is an alkali or alkaline earth metal, m is 2 when M is an alkali metal and m is 1 when M is an alkaline earth metal, and a bearing wherein the grease is packed. The grease exerts less effects on the environment. It is low in evaporation loss at a high temperature, shows good antirust property and can be suitably used in a ball bearing operated at a high temperature.
Abstract:
This invention is directed to a liquid metal and oil treating composition and to the process of preparing the composition. In the process there are first mixed together a vegetable oil such as cashew oil, anoleate ester such as magnesium oleate, and Ingredient A which is material selected from the group consisting of (a) ferric chloride, (b) at least one of pulverized lead oxide, ferric oxide, iron carbide, chromium carbide and tungsten carbide dispersed in an aqueous solution of acid selected from the group consisting of hydrochloric acid, perchloric acid and sulfuric acid. The acid solution is concentrated, preferably containing about 40 volume % acid. The mixture is heated and stirred and then distilled. The residue is then heated to about 100-150°F, while adding to it, with stirring, an antioxidant, a polar hydrocarbon, a carbonyl, a carboxyl amide, a viscosity improver, at least one of a tackifier and a sulfonate, and a petroleum oil until a homogeneous liquid is obtained.
Abstract:
A composition which comprises (a) a salt of monovalent metal (M) of a carboxylic acid in which the COOH group is attached to a ring atom of a fused ring system and (b) a grease which is a non-soap thickened oil which may be a mineral oil or a synthetic oil such as a silicone oil. The metal (M) may be sodium. The fused ring system is preferably a fused aromatic hydrocarbon ring system such as naphthalene and may include further substituents, for example an -OH group, in addition to the COOH group. If the acid contains both OH and COOH groups, these can be attached to adjacent atoms of the fused ring system. Sodium 2-naphthoate and sodium 3-hydroxy-2-naphthoate have been found to be particularly suitable. The grease has improved corrosion resistance and the addition of the metal compound does not result in destructing of the grease.
Abstract:
Particles of thiocarbonate salts, thioesters or complexes are stabilized by being isolated from contact with water, CO₂ and oxygen and are encapsulated in a coating effective to prevent future contact of the particles with water, CO₂ and oxygen. The particles are preferably prepared in an environment from which water, CO₂ and oxygen are excluded. The coating may be a wax, a water-free oil or grease, sulfur or a natural or synthetic polymerizable resin. Various preparative and encapsulating techniques are disclosed.
Abstract:
A thermally conductive silicone grease composition comprising at least the following components: an organopolysiloxane (A) represented by the following general formula: [wherein R1 designates identical or different univalent hydrocarbon groups; X designates identical or different univalent hydrocarbon groups or alkoxysilyl-containing groups of the following general formula: —R2—SiR1a(OR3)(3-a) (wherein R1 designates the previously mentioned groups; R2 designates oxygen atoms or alkylene groups; R3 designates alkyl groups; and ‘a’ is an integer ranging from 0 to 2); and ‘m’ and ‘n’ are integers equal to or greater than 0, respectively]; a thermally conductive filler (B); and an organopolysiloxane (C) having silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms on both molecular terminals and in the molecular chains; is characterized by excellent resistance to heat and reduced oil bleeding.
