A steel cord (30) with a high elongation at break of at least 5% comprises n strands (20), each of said strands (20) has m filaments (10) twisted together, n ranges from 2 to 7. m ranges from 2 to 9. The strands and the filaments are twisted in a same direction. The lay length of the cord is Lc and the lay length of said strand is Ls. The ratio of Ls to Lc (Ls/Lc) ranges from 0.25 to 1. Lc ranges from 16 mm to 26 mm. The strands are helically preformed. The E-modulus of the cord is more than 150000 N/mm2. The helical preforming of the strands allows to obtain a high elongation at break and a high E-modulus despite its long lay length Lc.

The invention relates to a combined cable having a core cable made of high-strength plastic fibers present as a twisted monofilament bundle (1) or a plurality of twisted monofilament bundles (6), and having an external layer (2, 7) of steel wire strands (4, 5), characterized in that the monofilament bundle or bundles (1, 6) is or are stretched to reduce the diameter and held in a cladding (2, 7), particularly braided cladding, in this state. The strain of the core cable under load is thus reduced, so that the load distribution between the steel cross-section and the plastic cross-section of the cable is improved. In the same sense, in reverse, in order to have the strain behavior of the strand layer approach that of the core cable, the cable has an intermediate layer (3) made of an elastic plastic, in which the steel wire strands are pressed at a distance from each other, such that the external layer stretches under load and contracts radially.

Ein kombiniertes Seil mit einem Kernseil aus hochfesten Kunststofffasern, die als ein verdrilltes Monofilbündel oder eine Mehrzahl von verdrillten Monofilbündeln vorliegen, und mit einer Außenlage aus Stahldrahtlitzen ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das bzw. die Monofilbündel unter Durchmesserverringerung gedehnt und in diesem Zustand durch eine, insbesondere geflochtene, Ummantelung gehalten ist bzw. sind. Die Dehnung des Kernseiles unter Last wird dadurch verringert, so dass sich die Lastverteilung zwischen dem Stahlquerschnitt und dem Kunststoffquerschnitt des Seiles verbessert. Um im gleichen Sinne umgekehrt das Dehnverhalten der Litzenlage demjenigen des Kernseiles anzunähern, weist das Seil eine Zwischenlage aus einem elastischen Kunststoff auf, in den die Stahldrahtlitzen mit einem Abstand voneinander eingedrückt sind, derart, dass sich die Außenlage unter Last dehnt und radial zusammenzieht.
