Abstract:
A pumpjack speed control system includes a user interface, a controller and a variable speed drive. The user interface includes a mathematical representation of the pumpjack geometry which permits the conversion of rod speed profiles to crank speed profiles.
Abstract:
A system and method for controlling operation of a sludge material handling system is disclosed. The sludge material handling system includes a positive displacement piston/cylinder pump, a sludge material feed system which delivers sludge material to the pump, and a sludge material disposal system which receives and disposes of sludge material from the pump. A first parameter is sensed, the first parameter bearing a known relationship to an actual volume of sludge material delivered during a pumping cycle. An output value is determined from the first parameter. A control signal is provided as a function of the output value.
Abstract:
An implantable blood pump actuator uses an efficient direct drive voice coil linear motor to power an hydraulic piston. The motor is immersed in oil and has but one moving part, a magnet which is attached to the piston. The piston is supported using a linear double acting hydrodynamic oil bearing that eliminates all wear and will potentially give an infinitely long life. There are no flexing leads, springs to break or parts to fatigue. A total artificial heart embodiment is very light, small, and as efficient as present prosthesis. The motor uses two commutated coils for high efficiency and has inherently low side forces due to the use of coils on both the inside and outside diameters of the magnet. The motor is cooled by forced convection of oil from the piston motion and by direct immersion of the coils in the oil. The highly effective cooling results in a smaller lighter weight motor.
Abstract:
A piston pump for conveying fragile particulate food products without damaging the product. The pump includes a filler and a discharge conduit containing piston valves actuated by hydraulic cylinders. The pumping chamber in which the product is compressed is equipped with a linear displacement transducer/magnet sensor which senses not only the position, but the speed of the piston. In response to the sensor, a proportioning valve releases hydraulic fluid at increasing pressure to a desired maximum, to the hydraulic cylinder actuating the piston in the pumping chamber of a second pump operating in tandem with the first pump. The product is expelled alternatively from the two pumps at the maximum desired pressure appropriate for the character of the product. The pump also includes means for flushing the pump without dismantling.
Abstract:
Apparatus for generating a precision fluid flow comprises a cylinder having side and end walls forming a fluid-receiving chamber having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. A cylindrical piston free of engagement with the cylinder side wall is movable longitudinally into the cylinder so as to displace through the fluid outlet a volume of fluid corresponding to the volume of the piston accommodated in the chamber. The piston is formed of a material which is substantially insensitive to variations in temperature and pressure of the fluid in the chamber so that the piston rod is substantially dimensionally stable. The piston is moved relative to the chamber by a precision driving mechanism either at a constant velocity to provide a constant volumetric flow of fluid through the outlet or at a variable velocity to provide a constant fluid pressure at the outlet.
Abstract:
Surface hydraulic fluid pressure and sucker rod displacement are measured and used to analyze the performance of a pumped oil well having a surface hydraulic actuator connected to a downhole pump by the sucker rod. The pressurized hydraulic fluid actuates a cyclic motion of the rod and a pumping of the oil. The measured rod motion and hydraulic fluid pressure are used together with an added flexible rod simulator to calculate a performance characteristic. The analysis method accounts for rod interactions with the hydraulic actuator and hydraulic pump. The present invention avoids installation of a load cell and disassembly/shutting down the operating pumping unit as is required by the conventional rocker beam analysis methods. The present invention also avoids flow measurements, as is required by conventional subsurface hydraulic motor and analysis methods, and complex dynamic frictional fluid loss analysis.
Abstract:
A system for the transport of high solids sludge includes a positive displacement pump for pumping sludge through a pipeline. The volume of sludge transported is accurately measured by determining the fill percentage by using a material flow signal, measured time intervals, hydraulic fluid pressure, or hydraulic fluid flow rate during each pumping cycle.

A method for protection and diagnosis of a linear compression (2), the linear compressor (2) comprising at least one electronic control (11), the protection method being configured so as to the following steps at eat work cycle of the linear compressor (2): - detecting a suction time (t s ) of the linear compressor (2); - detecting a compression time (t c ) of the linear compressor; - calculating, after the step of detecting a compression time (t c ) of the linear compressor, a decision parameter (ΔT) equivalent to the difference between the previously detected suction time (t s ) and the compression time (t c ).
