Abstract:
Methods to adapt a user interface view, provided by an integrated media/search web site via a global informational network, based on a user's lifestyle are disclosed. The methods include populating a user !nterface view of the integrated web site with a first set of links to the global informational network, wherein the integrated web site integrates a streaming digital media provider station with a global search engine. A user selects a link from the first set of links or performs a key word search using the global search engine. The user interface view is then re-populated with an updated set of links to the global informational network based on demographic and psychogral , hic associations made by the global search engine in response to at least the most recently selected link, the most recent key word search, or the most recent streaming media content. If a new link or a new key word search is performed, the user interface view is again re-populated wish an updated set of links. Also, if the streaming media program content from the provider changes, the user interface view is again re-populated with an updated set of links.
Abstract:
In a speech synthesis technique used in a network (110, 115), a set of text words is accepted by a speech engine software function (210) in a client device (105). From the set of text words, an invalid subset of text words is determined for which the text words are not in a word synthesis dictionary of the client device. The invalid subset of text words is transmitted over the network to a server device (120), which generates a set of word pronunciations including at least a portion of the text words of the invalid subset of text words and pronunciations associated with each of the text words. The client device uses the pronunciations for speech synthesis and may store them in a local word synthesis dictionary (220) stored in a memory (150) of the client device.
Abstract:
A method for providing text-to-speech instant messaging is provided. The method includes receiving (300) a convertible instant message from a sender using a text communication device (106) for a recipient using a speech communication device (108). The convertible instant message is converted (308) from text to speech by a text-to-speech converter (120) in a media application server (104). The media application server (104) provides (310) the converted instant message, along with response options (312), to the recipient. The recipient selects one of the response options, and the media application server (104) sends (318) a response message to the sender that includes the response option selected by the recipient.
Abstract:
A method for accessing and browsing the internet (20) through the use of a telephone and the associated dtmf signals is disclosed. The preferred embodiment provides a system that converts the information content of a web page from text to speech (voice signals), signals the hyperlink selections of a web page in an audio manner (18), and allows selection of the hyperlinks through the use of dtmf signals generated from a telephone keypad. Upon receiving a dtmf signal corresponding to a hyperlink, the corresponding web page is fetched and again delivered to the user via one of the available delivery methods such as voice, fax-on-demand, electronic mail, or regular mail (26).
Abstract:
For a safe handling of text messages (MesT) received by a communication device (CD) owned by a user, an application server (AS) receives a request (Req) from the communication device (CD), the request containing an identifier (IdCD) of the communication device and presence data (DatP) indicating that the communication device is associated with a service entity (SE) via a wireless session, the service entity (SE) being a vehicle, receives a text message (MesT) having the user as recipient, and sends a message (MesC) to a network server (NS), the message (MesC) including at least a part of the content of the text message (MesT), the network server (NS) generating a voice message (MesV) from the content of the message (MesC) and providing the voice message (MesV) via an audio call to the communication device (CD).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a communication system and a method of maintaining audio communication in a congested communication channel currently bearing the transmission of speech in audio communication between a sender side and a receiver side, the communication channel having at least one signaling channel and at least one payload channel having a quality of service. During the audio communication the quality of service of the payload channel is monitored. If the quality of service of the payload channel is below a threshold the speech at the respective sender side is converted to text; and transmitted over the retained communication channel to the respective receiver side. The text may be converted back to speech at the receiver side.
Abstract:
Enable a user of a dual-SIM dual active DSDA wireless device to handle multiple simultaneous independent real time calls SIMs to prevent calls from being dropped on a multi-SIM wireless device. A DSDA device user busy on an active call receives a second voice call and select to process the incoming voice call using a voice/ text conversation mode. The parties on the multiple simultaneous calls may not be aware of the wireless device's simultaneous communications with one another that the wireless device user is communicating with another party simultaneously with the wireless device.
Abstract:
To achieve the objects of the present invention, according to an aspect of the present invention, an electronic device is provided which includes a communication unit, an output unit, and a controller that connects a call received through the communication unit, performs an automatic conversation operation to conduct an automatic conversation with a calling party, and selectively performs one of a first operation to terminate the call and a second operation to generate recognition information on the automatic conversation and to output the recognition information based on the automatic conversation.
Abstract:
A dialog manager for a spoken dialog system includes a computer, a processor, and memory, comprising: a decision module for selecting a path from a plurality of alternative paths for a given call, wherein each path implements one of a plurality of strategies for a call flow; and a weighting module for weighting the path selection decision, wherein the weighting module is operatively connected to a probability estimator for estimating a probability value that a given path of the plurality of paths is the best performing path, wherein incoming calls are directed to each of the alternative paths selected by the decision module.
