    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convert the low-pressure phase silicon nitride into a large amount of high-pressure spinel type silicon nitride powder in high conversion rate by one operation of the impact treatment. SOLUTION: In the method of producing the high pressure phase spinel type silicon nitride by stress-pressing low pressure phase silicon nitride by means of shock water treatment, the low-pressure phase α-type, β-type and amorphous type of silicon nitride powder with the particle size of =50 wt.%, the mixture is pressure molded so that the void volume of the molding may become =20 GPa.
