PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lower nozzle which can suppress cracks caused by propagation of external force applied to a continuous casting nozzle, and to provide the joined structure of the lower nozzle. SOLUTION: The outer circumference of a lower nozzle body 11 as a refractory is coated with a metal case 12, and the inner hole of the head of a continuous casting nozzle 20 and the metal case 12 are brought into contact with each other so as to join the lower nozzle 10 and the continuous casting nozzle 20. At this time, it is possible that the lower nozzle body 11 is brought into contact with the continuous casting nozzle 11 together with the metal case 12. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an immersion nozzle for continuous casting allowing quality and productivity of a middle-thickness slab to be improved by reducing uneven flow of molten metal and fluctuation in the surface thereof within a mold in continuous casting of the slab. SOLUTION: The immersion nozzle 10 comprises a tubular body 11 which has: a cylindrical upper part 11a having an inlet 12 at the top end; a lower part 11c formed as a flat cross section; a tapered part 11b connecting the upper part 11a to the lower part 11c; a flow passage 13 formed inside and extending downward from the inlet 12; and a bottom part 20. In a sidewall 18 of the lower part 11c at the side of the short side, first discharge holes 14 communicated with the flow passage 13 are formed in positions proximate the bottom part 20. A projected part 15 projecting inward from an inner wall 19 of the flow passage 13 at the side of the long side is formed between the pair of the first discharge holes 14, 14. A pair of second discharge holes 16, 16 communicated with the flow passage 13 are formed in the bottom part 20. The first discharge holes 14 and the second discharge holes 16 are communicated with each other by a slit 17 extending in a perpendicular direction formed on the sidewall 18 at a side of the short side. SOLUTION: The test apparatus of hot press-fit for the mud material is provided with: a firing furnace 1 in which granular materials to be burnt 4 are charged and an opening 2 is formed on a furnace wall; a filling-up cylinder 7 in which the mud material M is filled; a hollow cylinder 5 in which the filling-up cylinder 7 and the opening 2 in the firing furnace 1 are connected to each other; a heating device 6 for heating the hollow cylinder 5; and a piston 8 with which the mud material M in the filling-up cylinder 7 is pushed into the firing furnace 1 through the hollow cylinder 5 heated with the heating device 6. SOLUTION: The heat insulating castable refractory includes: a refractory powder composition where, in the coarse grain region with a grain size of ≥1 mm, porous heat insulating aggregate essentially consisting of CaO-6Al 2 O 3 is blended in ≥65 mass% at a ratio occupied in 100 mass% of the coarse grain region, in the fine grain region with a grain size of 2 O 3 =0.03 to 0.13; and operation water in an amount of 30 to 50 mass% to 100 mass% of the refractory powder composition in external multiplication. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mud material which can develop excellent erosion resistance against the molten pig iron and molten slag. SOLUTION: In the mud material obtained by kneading a fire resistant powder by a binder, the particle size of the powder is adjusted so that it has a range of fine particle size of 75 μm or smaller, an aluminium nitride raw material and an agalmatolite are mixed into the range of fine particle size in a condition where the mass ratio of the aluminium nitride raw material/agalmatolite is 40/60 to 55/45, and the mixed amount of a carbonaceous raw material into the range of the fine particle size is suppressed to less than 40 mass% (including 0 mass%) against the agalmatolite of 100 mass%. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tundish for continuous casting which can improve the productive efficiency of a slab produced by continuous casting, can reduce the operational working of a refractory material, and can reduce the amount of the refractory material to be used, and to provide a method for preventing the penetration of metals into the refractory material thereof. SOLUTION: The tundish for continuous casting in which a shaped refractory 11 is arranged at the inside of an iron shell 10, and is provided with: a molten steel supply chamber 13 receiving a molten steel from a molten steel pan; a molten steel exhaust chamber 14 having an exhaust port injecting the molten steel to a mold, molten steel flow passages 17, 18 having a refractory material 26, partitioning the molten steel supply chamber 13 and the molten steel exhaust chamber 14, and further communicating them; and a gate 15 provided with an iron core 25 for induction heating the molten steel passing through the molten steel flow passages 17, 18. The iron shell 10 or the shaped refractory 11 is fitted and fixed with a pressing member 16 arranged projectingly to either or both of the inside of the gate 15 and the upper face of the gate 15.
