    Abstract: The belt (12) comprises three parts. The first part is a belt made from a first material (13), a thermoplastic. The second is a tensile load-bearing reinforcement (14) of single- or stranded steel wires, embedded in the first part. The third part is a second belt (15) made of a second material. The first material is polyamide (PA), polyethylene (PE), polycarbonate (PC), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or a polyblend containing one of these, or a fabric of one of these materials. The first material has a minimum yield stress in accordance with DIN 53455 or ISO 527 of 45 N/mm 2>, a minimal elongation at rupture in accordance with the same standards, of 45%, and a minimum ball indentation hardness in accordance with DIN 53456 or ISO 2039 (H358/30) of 70N/mm 2>. All foregoing measurements are made at room temperature. Thickness of the first part is preferably 30% at most, of the overall belt thickness. The second part has a traction area working with a drive wheel of the elevator plant, which is ribbed. It has a defined coefficient of friction, preferably higher or lower than that of the second material. The second material is an elastomer, especially polyurethane (PU), polychloroprene (CR) and/or ethylene propylene diene rubber (EPDM). The Shore A hardness of the second material at room temperature is preferably less than 85. The ridges have trapezoidal or V-profiles with an essentially rectangular base section between the contact sections and the first part. They comprise at least 25% of the height of the second part. The base sections are separated by intermediate spaces. An independent claim IS INCLUDED FOR the method of manufacture.
