Abstract:
An in-duct apparatus for sanitizing air includes a reaction unit, configured to be mounted in an air duct, for generating reactive oxygen species from oxygen in air received in the reaction unit to be sanitized. Airborne contaminants in the received air are substantially neutralized by the generated reactive oxygen species before the air is discharged from the reaction unit.
Abstract:
A silent discharge plasma apparatus includes a dielectric member, a pair of electrodes opposed to each other across the dielectric member and an alternating-current source applying an alternating-current voltage between the electrodes and causing a discharge. A gas is supplied to a discharge space, where discharge occurs, and a plasma is produced. At least one of the electrodes includes a conductive power feeding thin film on the dielectric member. When the dielectric member is destroyed and an arc discharge develops between the electrodes, the power feeding thin film is eliminated or oxidized, and the arc discharge is stopped.

Devices for generating and storing ozone. The device includes a tank for containing gas therein; an ozone generator for generating ozone and communicating the ozone with the tank; and at least one valve for admitting gas into the device, holding gas in the device, and discharging gas from the device.
Abstract:
An apparatus for generating an effective concentration of ozone for killing bacteria, viruses and other harmful microorganisms includes a housing having an ozone chamber defining an enclosed space for containing elevated concentrations of ozone. The ozone chamber includes ports providing access to the interior of the ozone chamber. A second chamber of the apparatus houses an ozonegenerator. A programmable control circuit operates both the ozone reactor and a pump for directing ambient air to the ozone reactor. The control circuit includes a motion detector mounted in the ozone chamber for activating the ozone generator of the invention and initiating the generation of ozone directed into the ozone chamber of the apparatus of the invention.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for generating a polyatomic form of a prescribed element is disclosed. The apparatus includes a chamber and a plasma source. The plasma source is coupled to the chamber for producing plasma of the prescribed element from a supply of the element in a gaseous state. The plasma includes at least a mixture of single atomic and double atomic species of the prescribed element. Lastly, a quencher is disposed within the chamber proximate an output of the plasma source for facilitating generation of the polyatomic form of the prescribed element from the mixture of single atomic and double atomic species of the prescribed element. In one embodiment, the element is oxygen and the polyatomic form is ozone.
Abstract:
An ozone dispensing system comprising an ozone gas generating means, electrical means to control the concentration of ozone produced by said ozone gas generating means, means to control the concentration of ozone in a preset dispensed volume, an oxygen supply and venting means disposed between said ozone gas generating means and said dispensing of said ozone, said venting means for continuous venting of said ozone.
Abstract:
Ozone production facilities comprising oxygen production facilities as a starting gas supply source, an ozonizer, and an ozone analyzer, and adapted to supply the starting gas by the oxygen production facilities, ozonize the starting gas by the ozonizer to produce an ozone-containing gas; the ozone production facilities further including liquid oxygen facilities as another starting gas supply source, and an oxygen flowmeter for monitoring the flow rate of oxygen supplied by the liquid oxygen facilities. A method of operating the ozone production facilities comprises supplying the starting gas from the oxygen production facilities alone to the ozonizer when the consumption of oxygen is within the production capacity of the oxygen production facilities; or mixing pure oxygen gas from the liquid oxygen facilities with the gas from the oxygen production facilities, and supplying the resulting mixed gas as the starting gas to the ozonizer, when the consumption of oxygen exceeds the production capacity of the oxygen production facilities. Thus, the ozone production facilities, even if small in scale, can always supply an ozone-containing gas having an arbitrary ozone concentration, ranging from the maximum to a lower concentration.
Abstract:
There is provided a highly efficient and compact ozone generating apparatus in which a very short air gap of about 0.2 mm is formed at high accuracy. Non-discharge portions are dispersed and disposed to cover an entire discharge space, or a spacer is provided to form the non-discharge portion. Further, an elastic body is mounted on a back face of an electrode, thereby enhancing an air gap accuracy of the discharge space.
Abstract:
An ozone production system for use with hydrocarbon fuel apparatus, such as internal combustion engines, to improve the efficiency of combustion and to limit ozone emissions in the exhaust. The system comprises electrode means for the production of ozone arranged in association with the air inlet of an hydrocarbon fuel apparatus, an ozone sensing means associated with the exhaust outlet of the hydrocarbon fuel apparatus, and control means operative in response to an output of the ozone sensing means for supplying electricity to the electrode means for producing ozone at a controlled rate so as to limit the ozone emissions at the exhaust outlet and so as to supply sufficient ozone for complete combustion of the hydrocarbon fuel.
