Abstract: This invention relates to a carpet backing latex composition comprising an emulsified polymer, non-cellulosic fibers or a mixture of non-cellulosic fibers and cellulosic fibers, and an effective amount of at least one dispersant for the fibers. Within the scope of the invention is a process for making a carpet backing latex composition comprising adding a dispersant to a carpet backing latex and then adding non-cellulosic fibers or a mixture of non-cellulosic fibers and cellulosic fibers to the latex with slow agitation. Carpet produced with this fiber-containing latex composition is characterized by improved physical properties such as tuft bind.

Abstract: The present invention provides an anti-pilling wool fabric with a coating having pilling resistance and resistance to fiber loss from fabric surface. The coating is formed by a coating formulation including at least two diisocyanates, at least two catalyst, a water dispersing agent, a buffer and water, which provides a polycarbodiimide crosslinker reactive to the relative less reactive groups on polypeptide of the wool fabric and promotes crosslinking between polypeptides of the wool fabric under relatively mild processing conditions so as to enhance mechanical strength of the wool fabric whilst no significant effect of the original finish merino wool fabric and/or garment and fiber loss from fabric surface are observed, compared to conventional treatment methods on wool fabric. A corresponding coating formulation and method of fabricating the anti-pilling wool fabric are also provided. The present invention is applicable to finished wool fabric which fibers are already with colorant(s), and/or dye(s), and/or reactive dye(s).

Abstract: Described herein is a method for producing a biofabricated material from collagen or collagen-like proteins which are recombinantly produced and which contain substantially no 3-hydroxyproline. The collagen or collagen-like proteins are isolated from animal sources, or produced by recombinant DNA techniques or by chemical synthesis. Abstract: An upper surface layer 2 and a nonwoven fabric sound absorption layer 3 are integrally secured via an air permeable adhesive resin layer 4 formed by melting thermoplastic resin powder, and the air permeability of the thickness direction of the entire carpet 1 falls within the range of 1 to 50 cm3/cm2·second. This effectively absorbs noise from the upper side entering via a roof, doors and windows as well as noise from the lower side. The carpet can be manufactured by scattering thermoplastic resin powder on an upper surface member, heating the thermoplastic resin powder into melted thermoplastic resin, placing a nonwoven fabric on the upper surface member via the melted thermoplastic resin, and pressing the nonwoven fabric and the upper surface member in a laminated state. It is preferable that powder of particle size of 90 to 10,000 μm is scattered in the amount of 5 to 500 g/m2.
