Abstract: PURPOSE: A method and a device for detecting a modulation mode in a terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting system to which hierarchical modulation is applied are provided to effectively detect a modulation mode applied to a newly added signal in a receiving end. CONSTITUTION: A PRS(Pseudo Random Sequence) signal detecting module(210) detects a signal interval to which hierarchical modulation is not applied from a received broadcast signal.
