    Abstract: Metal disc support for civil engineering work, comprising a base plate 1 having a groove 2 on one of its faces, an elastomer pad 8, a piston 9 suitable for transferring the loads onto the latter and a retaining ring for the neoprene pad, the said ring penetrating partly into the said groove, characterised in that the connection between the base plate and the ring is provided by interacting threads 3 and 5 belonging respectively to the base plate and to the ring.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a plate bearing for structures, having a baseplate (1) which has a depression (2) on one of its sides, having an elastomeric cushion (8), having a piston (9) for transferring the loads onto this, and having a retaining ring (4) which is arranged around the elastomeric cushion and engages partly into the depression (2). In the case of said plate bearing, the connection between baseplate (1) and retaining ring (4) is produced by interacting threads (3, 5) on the baseplate (1) and on the retaining ring (4).

    Abstract: A mooring cable is claimed for mooring floating offshore structures to the seabed. The cable comprises a number of individual strands contained in a watertight flexible hose. Each individual strand is also contained in a flexible, watertight hose and the space between the strands of the individual strands is filled with a lubricant with prevents wear due to friction as the cable moves. The lubricant pref. has a viscosity of >=5000 cp at 0 degree C and is heated to a point at which its viscosity is low enough for it to be injected into the individual components of the cable. The flexible hose encompassing the cables is pref. of a plastic material such as PVC. The hose is pref. armoured with steel wire or fibres or a combination of both. The mooring system consists of an anchoring system for the two ends of the cable located on the structure to be moored and a ballast block on the sea bed with a curved canal through the block through which the cable passes. The weights of the ballast blocks is of the same order of magnitude as the tensile strength of the cable. To prevent erosion of the cable, the exits to the canals in the ballast blocks are pref. expanded. The anchoring system is capable of withstanding the continuously fluctuating forces and the wave motion that are caused by the surface movement of the structure and the movement of the water.
