Abstract:
Circuitry for drawing lines includes a video memory for storing pixel data and circuitry for generating a sequence of addresses defining a line of pixels in the video memory. A first memory stores a sequence of pattern units corresponding to the generated sequence of addresses. A second memory stores a value indicating a current pattern unit. Writing circuitry writes to the video memory at a generated address responsive to a current pattern unit. A third memory stores a control value which is accessed by update circuitry for updating the second memory to indicate the next pattern unit. The update circuitry may selectively update the second memory to the sequential pattern unit or reset the second memory to a predetermined pattern unit.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly control temperature of a computer corresponding to its operating state. SOLUTION: Voltage corresponding to temperature of arranged position is detected by a thermistor 16, and which range the temperature is in is detected by comparators 17 and 19 and is supplied to a CPU 12 through a chip 23. The CPU is provided with information on whether a power source is an AC power source or a battery and whether a display is operated or not, etc., from a plurality of indirect inputs 20 and controls a fan 18 and a cooling option 22 based on these pieces of information and information on the temperature range from the thermistor 16 to properly control temperature. The cooling options include change of operating rate of the CPU, propriety of quick charge of the battery, adjustment of non-operating time of a peripheral device, etc., and rotation speed of the fan 18 is changed. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for converting IDL-defined data structures to and from a format convenient for transfer between two computers. SOLUTION: A character string description for the data structure to be transferred is generated in a host computer. The character string description is converted into a host description describing the size, alignment and the type of the data structure. The data structure is packed in an output buffer of the host computer based on a description inside the host description, and the output buffer is transferred to an input buffer of a client computer. In the client computer, a client description describing the sizes, alignment, and type of respective fields in the data structure during utilization inside the client computer is generated. Abstract:
A network (10) includes an adaptive repeater (12) that can service data devices (18,20,22,26,28,30) at different data rates. The data devices are coupled to ports (34) of the adaptive repeater and operate at a first rate in a first domain (14). The data devices are also coupled to other ports of the adaptive repeater and operate at a second rate in a second domain (16). Repeaters (24,32) and bridges (40,42) may also be coupled to the adaptive repeater.
