Abstract: A recording medium is composed of a base material and at least one ink-receiving layer arranged on at least one side of the base material. The ink-receiving layer contains at least one binder resin selected from a water-soluble resin and a water-dispersible resin, an inorganic pigment, a compound represented by the following formula (1): wherein R 1 to R 4 may be the same or different and each independently represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group or a group represented by -NR 5 R 6 , R 5 and R 6 each independently represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, a phenyl group or a group represented by -NR 7 CSNR 8 R 9 , R 7 to R 9 may be the same or different and each independently represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms or a phenyl group, and any one of R 1 and R 2 and any one of R 3 and R 4 are not fused together to form a ring, an alkylamine-epihalohydrin copolymer, and a boron compound. The inorganic pigment, the compound represented by the formula (1), the alkylamine-epihalohydrin copolymer and the boron compound are contained in particular relative proportions.

The high-molecular dispersant is a block copolymer comprising at least one hydrophobic block and at least one hydrophilic block, which have been obtained by polymerizing vinyl ethers as monomers, respectively. The inkjet recording ink can stably record images of high fastness and excellent quality over a long period even under severe environmental conditions.

Abstract: A data communication unit (1) receives input image data of a first data format which comprises coordinate data of the end points of vectors forming an image and various modifying information of the vectors, and stores them in an input buffer (2). A data analyzer unit (3) converts the input image data into image data of a second data format and stores the data in a storage unit (6). The second data format holds the various modifying information independently of the coordinate data of the end points, decreasing the amount of data compared with the first data format. Based on the image data of the second data format, the data analyzer unit (3) generates, in a band-by-band manner, intermediate codes comprising coordinate data that constitute the contours of the vectors reflecting the various modifying information. The intermediate codes are converted into corresponding raster data in a band-by-band manner, and are printed as an image by a printer unit (10).

Abstract: An ink-jet type forming device comprising a suction fan (11) for sucking from below a platen (12), a print medium (14) that is being conveyed on the platen (12), and a variable control means for variably controlling the suction force of the suction fan (11) under a predetermined condition. The variable control means includes means that, in each scanning of a head, recognizes presence and absence of the head within a printing region ranging from the printing start position to the printing end position and that controls the suction fan such that the suction force is lower when the head is outside the printing region than when it is within the printing region, as the predetermined condition. Alternatively, it includes means that recognizes the kind of a print medium that has been set and that controls the suction force of the suction fan according to the recognized kind of print medium, as the predetermined condition. Adjustment of the suction force of the suction fan lowers the load on a conveyance motor and generally reduces power consumption and noise.
