Abstract:
A method and nodes adapted to provide personalized multimedia services for users having registered a media player (300, 400, 401, 501, 502, 606) to a multimedia network, on the basis of the content (301, 500) read by a code reader (302, 405, 503),connected to or integrated with the media player. Content decoded from a code is used for creating or updating a user preference data record (700, 701) linked to by the identity with which the respective media player is registered. An application server (305, 402, 506, 600) being responsible for personalizing a requested service is interconnected with one or more preference databases (306, 407, 603), and one or more content databases (308, 408, 605) and/or dedicated servers (507). Upon receiving a service request, the application server, access relevant data from the mentioned nodes and assembles personalization instructions, adapted to trigger the requested personalized servicein the requesting media player.
Abstract:
Apparatuses and methods for controlling a manner of delivering content to a content user in a mobile telecommunication network are provided. The content is sent to the content user using first a first transmission rate when the content user is in a first radio state and uses a first battery power, and then using a second transmission rate that is lower than the first transmission rate, when the content user is in a second radio state and uses a second battery power that is smaller than the first battery power. The sending is performed such as, (A) while delivering the content, an amount of the content already received by the content user to exceed an amount of the content used by the content user, and (B) to minimize an energy used by the content user during delivery.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method to monitor network performance in a computer (40) comprising at least one physical server (10) having a hardware machine (12) attached via a hypervisor (14) to a set of virtual machines (15,16,17). The method comprises steps like: Measuring network performance parameters for selected packet flows (21,22,23) in transition between the hardware machine and the virtual machines. Analyzing (59) the measured performance parameters. - Identifying a source of network degradation.
Abstract:
There is described a method and apparatus for handing over a terminal connection from a source base station to a target base station in a packet data network when the source base station is acting as a caching server and sending content data towards the terminal. A handover request is sent from the source base station to the target base station. A first control message is also sent from the source base station to a control server, the first control message including a session identifier for identifying the session, and current parameters for the session. If the target base station is associated with a cache storage unit containing the content data, a second control message is sent from the control server to the target base station, the second control message including a content identifier, the session identifier and the current parameters. At the target base station, the content data packets are retrieved from the cache storage unit, and a header of each retrieved content data packet is populated with parameters calculated using the received current parameters and session identifier. The content data packets are then sent from the base station towards the terminal.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to methods and arrangements for arranging a distribution tree in a Peer To Peer P2P streaming system. The system comprises a bootstrapping server (10) that creates an external distribution tree based on received register messages from participating operator external clients (2, 3, 4). The method comprises the following steps: - Configuring an operator controlled node (7) to be a regular node in the created external distribution tree. Configuring the operator controlled node (7) to be a parent node for participating operator internal clients (1, 5, 6).
Abstract:
A method and arrangement in a first device (300c,d) present in a first local network (300), for enabling the transfer of media from a media server (302b) in a second local network (302) to a media renderer (300b) in the first local network. A connection is established (3:1) between the first device and a gateway (302a,c) in the second local network, and the first device creates (3:3) a port mapping in the gateway for the media server. Then, the first device creates (3:4) a URL comprising the created port mapping and a reference to media content stored in the media server, and sends (3:5) the created URL to the media renderer. Thereby, the media renderer is able to pull the media content from the media server using that URL.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to nodes and methods for use in connection with a peer-to-peer network for sharing of data content. A priority mechanism is introduced by means of which a serving peer may select which requesting peers to serve based on their need for data content in terms of the degree of urgency. A requesting peer may include an urgency indicator in a request for data content, which for instance may be the amount of buffered data available for playback in a video buffer. The serving peer may then extract (52) the urgency indicator from the request and apply (53) a priority mechanism which uses the urgency indicator to select which peers to upload data content to.
Abstract:
Device, computer program and method for providing video content and data to a user device (50). The method includes providing the video content to the user device (50), sending a first message from a network operator system (40) to the user device (50), the first message including at least one of an instruction for downloading the data or a table (102) storing information about the data, wherein each of the instruction and the information about the data informs the user device (50) to search a peer-to-peer network (70) for the data, and receiving at the network operator system (40) a second message from the user device (50) indicating that the data has been downloaded from the peer-to-peer network (70).
Abstract:
The invention discloses a method and arrangement of managing personalized advertisement in an TV system including an TV client (103), a User Preference Database (109), an Ad Providers Database (108) and an Advertising Application Server (105). The Advertising Application Server (105) detects that a user (John.Brown@op.net) is present at the TV client. Then the Advertising Application Server (105) receives, from said User Preference Database, preferences of said detected user. Also the Advertising Application Server (105) receives, from the Ad Providers Database, information on advertisements from different Ad providers. The received information is used by the Advertising Application Server (105) to match said received user preferences with received advertisements from the matching it is selected one or more advertisements. If there are Advertisements from more than one Ad Provider selected then there is a connection with a Transaction Broker for performing an auction among the Ad Providers. The Ad Provider with the highest bid will get its advertisement sent to the user.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for enabling discovery within a home network by a non-IP Multimedia Subsystem enabled device detecting the availability of a Home IP Multimedia Subsystem Gateway. The method comprises interposing a Home IP Multimedia Subsystem Gateway at a control plane between a remote network and at least one non-IP Multimedia Subsystem enabled device. An advertisement message is sent to the or each non-IP Multimedia Subsystem enabled device. The advertisement message advertises the availability via the Home IP Multimedia Subsystem Gateway of services on the remote network.
