Abstract:
A method of delivering streaming media from a media source to a group of user terminals where those user terminals are located within a given cell of a Public Land Mobile Network. The method comprises delivering said streaming media from said media source to the user terminals via respective unicast sessions and, at said media source, monitoring the number and capabilities of user terminals within said group. The method further comprises, in dependence upon the number and capabilities of user terminals within said group, at said media source initiating a switch from said unicast sessions to a Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service, MBMS, broadcast session by signalling to a Broadcast-Multicast Service Centre, BM-SC, and, at said BM-SC, signalling to said user terminals to cause the user terminals to switch from receiving media via the respective unicast sessions to receiving media via said broadcast session, and commencing delivery of the streaming media via the MBMS broadcast session.A switch from MBMS multicast to unicast sessions is als provided for.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for performing face recognition in a telecommunication system (1) comprising a central repository (10) in which Face Recognition profiles attached to subscribers signed up for face recognition have been stored. The method comprises steps like: Detecting proximity between a subscriber (5) of the subscribers signed up for face recognition and an entity (6,8) involved with Face Recognition, said subscriber (5) being located within a cell coverage area (7); Migrating a Face Recognition profile attached to said subscriber, from the central repository (10) to a Network node (8) controlling the cell coverage area (7); Generating in the Network node, an extended synthetic gallery for the migrated Face Recognition profile.
Abstract:
A method, computer readable medium and serving node includes an interface configured to exchange data with a user equipment and with a gateway node of a network; and a processor. The processor is configured to implement a classifier function for intercepting a request from the user equipment, and for analyzing whether the request complies with pre-established categorization rules, a request analyzer function for analyzing the request when the request complies with the pre- established categorization rules and for selecting one mode of plural available modes, and an application function for requesting a quality of service, QoS, bearer to be established between the serving node and the user equipment when the selected mode includes a QoS requirement.
Abstract:
A user terminal, media application and method for selectively downloading media content through a communication network and selectively displaying the media content at a user terminal connected to the communication network. The method includes receiving main media content at the user terminal; determining at the user terminal level whether there are streaming resources available to maintain a predetermined quality of streaming the main media content; receiving secondary media content when the streaming resources are above a predetermined level; and displaying the main media content when the streaming resources are above the predetermined level and automatically displaying the secondary media content when the streaming resources are below the predetermined level. A switching functionality of the user terminal is configured to select which media content to be displayed as a function of the streaming resources.
Abstract:
It is presented a method for transferring receiving of streaming content from a first media receiver (12a) to a second media receiver (12b), the method comprising the steps, executed in a streaming transfer server (10), of : receiving a presence message (22) indicating the presence of the second media receiver (12b); receiving an in use message (24) indicating that the first media receiver (12a) is in active use by the user (2); transmitting a present media receiver message (26) to the first media receiver (12a), the present media receiver message (26) comprising an identifier of the second media receiver (12b); receiving a transfer message (32) indicating that the receiving of the streaming content should be transferred from the first media receiver (12a) to the second media receiver (12b); obtaining an identifier of the streaming content (34); and transmitting an initiate content message (33) to the second media receiver (12b), wherein the initiate content message (33) comprises the identifier of the streaming content.
Abstract:
There is described a method and apparatus for sending data through one or more packet data networks. A stripped-down packet is sent from a packet sending node towards a cache node, the stripped-down packet including in its payload a pointer to a payload data segment stored in a file at the cache node. When the stripped-down packet is received at the cache node, the pointer is used to identify the payload data segment from data stored at the cache node. The payload data segment is inserted into the stripped-down packet in place of the pointer so as to generate a full size packet, which is sent from the cache node towards a client.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for controlling downloading of video segments or segmented video stream to a subscriber client unit, and a subscriber client unit adapted to perform said method. One object of the invention is to guarantee seamless playback and the optimal server load. Said object is by a method and a subscriber client unit that is controlled by a segment selector (SSA) and a server bandwidth control (SBC) algorithm.
Abstract:
A method, network, and node for distributing content across a plurality of content cache nodes to provide optimal access to the content. Relevant, e.g. popular, content is distributed as close as possible to the user or group of users that have the highest probability of requesting the content. In addition, content is relocated to caching nodes higher in the aggregation network as content become less demanded, e.g. less popular. Portions of the content are distributed in a plurality of content cache nodes, and locations where particular portions of the content are requested by users with greater frequency than other locations are determined. The content portions are then migrated to content cache nodes closer to the locations where the particular portions of the content are requested by users with greater frequency.
Abstract:
A method of controlling a play-out of media content in a UPnP network from a control point, wherein the media content has been delivered from a media server to a remote rendering device. Upon having establishing a UPnP remote access connection between the control point and the rendering device, the control pointinvokes a UPnP action at the rendering device,in response to a user interaction. The control point also initiates a subscription of a state variable at the rendering device, and starts a timer, which will indicate the time that has elapsed since the initiation of the subscription. The control point will regard the UPnP action as a successful action in case it recognises a predefined state variable transition, prior to the expiry of the timeout value, ors a failed action,in case no such predefined state variable transition has been recognised upon expiry of the time out value. The result of the UPnP action is provided to the user as a notification.
Abstract:
A network server (82) comprises a controller (86) that creates and distributes an electronic guide to the members of an affinity group based on the presence statuses of one or more of the group members. The electronic guide identifies the title and location of one or more media files stored in a home system of the group members. The group members may view the electronic guide, and select a media file to render on their own home system.
