    Abstract: A self-cleaning litter box is disclosed which provides various advantages over the prior art. In particular, in one embodiment, the self-cleaning litter box is configured to use a cartridge which may include a litter compartment and a waste compartment. In another embodiment, the cartridge may be non-compartmentalized. The cartridge may be disposable, thus eliminating the need for the user to clean the litter tray and handle heavy litter containers. In other embodiments, the system includes a rake assembly configured with a drive assembly that is protected from contamination. In accordance with another embodiment of the invention, the self-cleaning litter box is configured to be used with all types of litter including crystal type litter.

    Abstract: A modular controller for a lamp allows for the easy addition of remote control to multiple lamp fixture designs. The controller housing protects circuitry from shorts and has a window included for receiving remote control signals. The window is detachable and can be re-oriented relative to the controller housing to accommodate different lamp fixture designs. The position of the sensors within the controller housing can also be reconfigured, and it is also possible to connect external sensors to the controller for situations where sensors must be placed in a tight space. In some embodiments, the lamp power supply is incorporated within the modular controller, saving space and cost, and allowing for dimming of individual lamps.

    Abstract: An adapter for use with a handheld spectrometer is disclosed. The adapter provides interoperability of the handheld spectrometer with existing (i.e., off-the-shelf) standard types of sample holders such as ampoules, vials, cuvettes, containers, or even direct material (i.e., surface) measurement. The adapter provides a chamber for the sample holders that retains the given sample holder within a sample are through which a directed path of light travels to and from the handheld spectrometer.
