    Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for accelerating a user interface on a display of an image capture unit. The image capture unit includes a plurality of image files for providing a plurality of images. In a first aspect, the method and system comprise selecting an image based upon a scrolling method and providing a predetermined number of speculation buffers. The method and system include organizing the predetermined number of speculation buffers based upon the selected image so as to assign each of the predetermined number of speculation buffers to store one of the plurality of images in response to the scrolling method. In a second aspect, the image capture unit operates in a plurality of modes The image capture unit also includes a plurality of input buffers which are utilized in one of the plurality of modes and are unutilized on at least one of the other of the plurality of modes. The method and system in accordance with this aspect comprise reallocating the input buffers as speculation buffers and providing image data from the image files to the speculation buffers when the image capture unit is in the at least one of the plurality of modes.

While the audio is being recorded, a plurality of images are captured, where each one of the plurality of images is captured at some time along the time-line. The method and system further includes presenting a slide show from the plurality of images and the recorded audio by playing the recorded audio, while displaying each one of the plurality of images on a display device at the time that the image was captured along the time-line of the recorded audio.

    Abstract: A camera with a built in microprocessor system programmed to receive an input password and indicium from a host computer. The camera is configured to use the indicium in combination with a conversion formula to mark an original acquired image in a non-destructive manner to form modified image data and add the indicium to an image header. The camera also creates image authentication data for comparison with corresponding data of a questionable second image to determine if the second image is the same as or different from the original image. This process of marking and creating authentication data all occur during acquisition and prior to any image data storage in a medium from which a person could subsequently access data. The camera takes the authentication data and stores it along with the marked image data in memory for subsequent transmission to the host computer. The preferred embodiment of the authentication involves the creation of checksum data, involving the addition of pixel values from each image row and each image column. These sums are then stored in a lookup table for future use in comparing with the result of the same checksum calculation done on questionable image data at a future time. The original image can be viewed only through presentation of the password.

    Abstract: A system (Figure) and method (Figs.4&6) for sharing digital images (21) over a network (11), such as the Internet, wherein the first person (10) desires to send images from a first computer (12) to a second person (34) having a second computer (36) that includes a standard email program (38). The system and method include sending an email request with the images (19) and an address of the second user (Fig.5) from the first computer (12) to a server (20). In response to receiving the email request, the images are stored on the server (28), and the server creates a standard email message (31) from the email request (19). The method and system further include inserting at least one link to the stored images (33) into the email message (31), and transmitting the email message over the network (32) for delivery to the second user (38). The second user may then receive and open the email message on the second computer (36) using the standard email program (38) and click on at least one link to display the images (40).

    Abstract: A method for systematic generation of one or more image groups to relate a plurality of images as a single group includes providing an image command sequence.
