Abstract: Gemstone grading method including illuminating the gemstone by light having a plurality of spectral components, each modulated according to a spectrally specific modulation (e.g., of intensity, frequency, phase), collecting the light following interaction with the gemstone, extracting from the collected light a set of intensity values for a respective set of modulation parameter values to provide a transmittance spectrum, and an output indicative of the transmittance spectrum (e.g., color, clarity, fluorescence grade). A complementary system includes a plurality of monochromatic light sources and respective modulators for simultaneously illuminating a gemstone with a modulation spectrally specific for each light source, a detection system for collecting the light following interaction whose signals are fed via a communication system to a data processor configured to extract a set of intensity values for a respective set of modulation parameter values to provide a transmittance spectrum and an output indicative thereof.

Abstract: A system for determining the authenticity of an object including a reference-image acquisition module for acquiring a reference-image. The reference-image acquisition module includes a light-source, an imager including an imaging-sensor, and a database coupled with the imager for storing the reference-image. The light-source directs circumferential-light toward an authentication-region on the object. The circumferential-light is at least one of collimated and telecentric. The circumferential-light impinges on the authentication-region from a plurality of different azimuthal directions and at a predetermined oblique angle relative to the normal of a plane defined by said object. A portion of the circumferential-light is reflected from the authentication-region toward a specular reflection region and another portion is scattered from the authentication-region. The imager is focused on the authentication-region and acquires a reference-image. The reference-image is a focused image of the scattered light. The reference-image includes image features related to surface features scattering phenomena of the authentication-region.

Abstract: A system for measuring temperature of one or more subjects within a scene including a reference object having an unknown emissivity, having an ambient temperature, the system comprising: a visible spectrum camera capable of acquiring images of the scene comprising (a) at least a Region of Interest (Rol) of each of the subjects, and (b) the reference object; a thermal image sensor capable of acquiring images of the scene comprising (a) at least the Rol of each of the subjects, and (b) the reference object; and a processing circuitry configured to: obtain (a) a visible spectrum image captured by the visible spectrum camera, and (b) a thermal image captured by the thermal image sensor, and (c) an indication of a scene ambient temperature within the scene; register the visible spectrum image and the thermal image onto a common coordinate system; identify (a) Rol pixels, on the common coordinate system, of the Rols of the subjects within the visible spectrum image, (b) reference object pixels, on the common coordinate system, of the reference object within the visible spectrum image and (c) a parameter correlated to an emissivity of the reference object, based on the reference temperature and on the indication of the scene ambient temperature; determine (a) Rol temperatures by analyzing respective Rols pixels on the thermal image, and (b) a reference temperature by analyzing the reference object pixels on the thermal image; and upon existence of a difference between the reference temperature and the scene ambient temperature, correct the Rol temperatures, based on the difference and utilizing the parameter, to compensate for the difference, giving rise to corrected Rol temperatures.
