Abstract:
Articles comprising multiple layers are included. The multiple layer articles may include fabrics, foams, films, fiber in combination with a polyolefin composition such as a film, powder, or nonwoven.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition comprising a polyester, a copolyester ether and an oxidation catalyst, wherein the copolyester ether comprises a polyether segment comprising poly(tetramethylene-co-alkylene ether). The composition has oxygen scavenging properties and produces articles having low haze. Other embodiments of the present invention disclosed herein are articles made from the composition and methods to make such articles.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition comprising a colored recycled polyethylene terephthalate (RPET) and an opacifying material. The composition can further comprise a virgin polyethylene terephthalate (PET), a high gas barrier or an oxygen scavenging compound. Suitable opacifying material, suitable high gas barrier polymer and suitable oxygen scavenging compound are disclosed herein. Other embodiments of the present invention include articles produced from these compositions and processes for producing these compositions.
Abstract:
Disclosed are spray-on anti-soil formulations, and methods for treating fibers, carpets, and fabrics with the same. The anti-soil formulations comprise a synergistic blend of an anti-soil component and a stain blocker component adapted to be sprayed- on a fiber, carpet, or fabric instead of known exhaust applications. The anti-soil component can be either fluorochemical or non-fluorochemical based, while the stain blocker can comprise any chemical that blocks positively charged dye sites. Fibers, carpets, and fabrics treated with the anti-soil formulations exhibit superior anti-soil characteristics compared to sprayed-on fluorochemicals and exhibit similar anti-soil characteristics compared to known exhaust application.
Abstract:
A process for cleaning short segments and bundles of carpet yarn removed from used carpets and converting the cleaned carpet fiber filaments into recycled carpet fiber is disclosed. The process reduces mechanical complexity, saves water, and minimizes the volume of waste when compared to known process. The process comprises turbulent mixing of carpet fiber segments and bundles in an aqueous medium to remove entrained particulates and soluble materials. A thermoplastic pellet or granule, carpet fiber, and carpet made from carpet filaments cleaned with the disclosed process is also provided.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a branched polyethylene terephthalate- co -isophthalate for use in the manufacture of foamed articles. The branched polyethylene terephthalate- co -isophthalate can be characterized by a composition comprising i) a polyethylene terephthalate-co-isophthalate comprising from about 5 to about 15 weight % of an isophthalic acid, and ii) a branching agent comonomer, wherein the branching agent comonomer is a polyhydric alcohol having functionality of 3 or more and the polyhydric alcohol is present in an amount of from 0.005 to about 0.01 equivalents per mole of total diacids. Other embodiments of the present invention include foamed articles produced from these compositions and processes to produce these compositions and the foamed articles.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a thermoplastic polymer composition with enhanced gas barrier properties comprising a thermoplastic polymer, an antiplasticizer and a chain extender. Suitable antiplasticizers and suitable chain extenders are disclosed herein. Other embodiments of the present invention include a method to produce such a thermoplastic composition, an article comprising such a thermoplastic composition, and a method for making such an article.
