Abstract:
Disclosed is composition comprising an aqueous dispersion containing a dye, a stain blocker component, and an anti-soil component. The composition provides uniform dyeing, and superior stain blocking and anti-soil characteristics to fibers, carpets, and fabrics by adjusting the conductivity and pH of the dispersion. Alternatively, the composition can comprise an aqueous dispersion containing a dye, a stain blocker component, and a retarder for slowing down the rate of dye reaction. Also disclosed is a method of applying the compositions and dispersions to fibers, carpets, and fabrics.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a branched polyethylene terephthalate- co -isophthalate for use in the manufacture of foamed articles. The branched polyethylene terephthalate- co -isophthalate can be characterized by a composition comprising i) a polyethylene terephthalate-co-isophthalate comprising from about 5 to about 15 weight % of an isophthalic acid, and ii) a branching agent comonomer, wherein the branching agent comonomer is a polyhydric alcohol having functionality of 3 or more and the polyhydric alcohol is present in an amount of from 0.005 to about 0.01 equivalents per mole of total diacids. Other embodiments of the present invention include foamed articles produced from these compositions and processes to produce these compositions and the foamed articles.
Abstract:
A method of producing a multicolored textured carpet comprises blending a polyamide polymer and a color pigment to form a melt blend, extmsion spinning the melt blend to form pigmented polyamide yams, tufting (1) the pigmented polyamide yams and (2) white dyeable polyamide yams into a carpet, and overdyeing the carpet with an amount of acid dye sufficient to produce the multicolored textured carpet. The color pigment and the acid dye are selected to provide desired multicolored effect in the caipet. The multicolored textured caipet having deeper color and dye light fastness is also disclosed.

Abstract:
The instant invention relates to a new liquid repellent and stain resistant barrier fabric comprising a fabric substrate having a face side and an underside with spaced-apart indentations on the underside of the fabric substrate; a primary treat composition covering at least the face side of the fabric substrate; a perforated polymeric latex overlaying the underside of the fabric substrate, wherein the perforations align with the spaced-apart indentations; a polymeric adhesive layer covering the perforated latex; and a polymeric barrier film overlaying the adhesive layer. Such liquid repellent and stain resistant barrier fabrics are suitable in home furnishing and commercial applications.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a polyester composition having a liquid antiplasticizer. The composition has improved gas barrier properties with reduced degradation and plate out effects on molds and rollers. Other embodiments of the present invention disclosed herein are articles made from the composition and methods to make such articles.
Abstract:
A filament comprising a synthetic polymer and characterized by a hexalobal cross-section having three major lobes and three minor lobes, and a major radius (R 1 ) and a minor radius (R 2 ). Each lobal cross-section having essentially straight side portions extending outwardly and tangent to a convex tip at each end. The ratio of the major radius (R 1 ) to the minor radius (R 2 ) defining an exterior modification ratio (R 1 /R 2 ) of greater than (1).
Abstract:
Synthetic fibers with enhanced soil resistance, yarns and carpets prepared from these fibers and compounds and methods for their production are provided.
Abstract:
A soil repellency aqueous dispersion for treating various fibers, yarns, and textiles is disclosed. The dispersion provides superior soil resistance when compared to known fluorochemical and silicone fiber treatments. The dispersion comprises clay nanoparticle components and fluorochemicals that can be applied to the fibers, yarns, and textiles using known methods.
