    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a variable neutral axis wire core using a relatively low temperature thread and a relatively high temperature thread by providing a strip of an extrusion molded strip having an elastomeric cover with a selectively positioned high temperature thread extending longitudinally in the interior to thereby select the neutral bending axis of the strip. SOLUTION: An extrusion molded strip 10 has a U-shaped cross section and has a pair of leg portions 12, 14 connected by a web 16. The extrusion molded strip 10 has a U-shaped wire core 18 having an extrusion molded elastomeric cover 20 therearound. A high temperature thread 28 is extended longitudinally in the elastomeric cover and glued with the elastomeric cover 20. An adhesive is applied to prompt the adhesion between the high temperature thread and the elastic material. The high temperature thread 28 is selectively located with respect to the wire core to provide a desired neutral bending axis of a finished product. The high temperature thread 28 is generally located in the intermediate portion of the leg 14. The high temperature thread 28 can be located along the web in addition to the leg 12.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To stop and invert a motor to drive a power-driven window glass of an automobile when foreign matter is caught between the window glass and a window frame by providing a thin and long element, a sound radial ray transmission source and a sound radial ray detector, and securely detecting deformation of the thin and long element. CONSTITUTION: A tubular member 2 is hollow, and it has a hole 10 having an inner surface which is finished to have a high-grade reflection performance. The member 2 is formed of material capable of deformation, and deformation of the member 2 causes deformation of the inner surface 8 to limit the size of an aperture of the hole 10. When the size of the aperture of the hole 10 is extremely limited, a sound radial ray detector 6 detects damped radial ray from a transmission source 4. The detector 6 is connected to a motor to stop and/or invert the motor when deformation of the member 2 is detected by detection of damping of the radial ray. In the case where the member 2 is deformed when the motor is controlling a power-driven window glass, continuous rise of the window glass is stopped and/or inverted.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a simple sealing article and method for sealing a variable width gap between two surfaces. CONSTITUTION: An elongated body portion 12 is provided with a resilient contractible portion 14 including a chamber 28 and a contractible portion 16 including the other chamber 30. The contractible portion 14 is contracted by evacuation from within the chamber 28 and the expandable portion 16 is expanded by injection of a fluidic substance such as foaming urethane into the other chamber 30 so that the breadth of a sealing article 10 is equal to the width of a gap. The expanded condition of the expandable portion is maintained by hardening of the substance in the other chamber, etc., and biasing action for maintaining sealing is achieved by the resiliency of the contractible portion held in a contracted condition.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To facilitate manufacture so as to reduce costs and to reduce a material handling quantity by providing a single core body and two layers fixed to the core body, and providing these two layers by extrusion molding so as to be in line with each other on the core body. CONSTITUTION: This weatherstrip 10 engaged with the edge of a door 13 of an automobile 14 along a flange 11 of a door opening part 12 is composed of a metallic core body 16 bent in nearly U-shape; a first layer 17 formed of thermosetting material provided on one side of the core body 16 along the lengthwise direction of the core body 16; and a second layer 21 formed of thermoplastic material fixed to the other side on the core body 16, abutting one edge of the first layer 17. The first layer 17 has a base body part 18 with a protruding edge 19 to be engaged with the flange 11, and an annular part 20 made of foam material abutting the door 13. The second layer 21 has a base end part 22 provided with protrusions 24 to be engaged with the flange 11, and a blade piece 26 of nearly arch shape protruded outward.
