Abstract: PURPOSE: A skin formulation for external use containing ginseng flower essential oil is provided to treat wrinkles and to suppress pigmentation. CONSTITUTION: A skin composition for external use contains 0.0001-30 weight% of ginseng flower essential oil as an active ingredient. The ginseng flower essential oil is obtained by extracting a solvent through steam distillation. The perfumed ingredient of the ginseng flower essential oil is decanal, nonanal, 2-methylpyrrole, benzaldehyde, acetophenone, methyl vinyl ketone, hexanal, methyl heptenone, cis-3-hexenol, methyl salicylate, hedione, and methylionone.

The essential oil of the paeonia suffruticosa contains geraniol, nerol, phenylethyl alcohol, pentadecane, and heptadecadien. The perfume composition contains 21~23wt% of geraniol, 15~17wt% of nerol, 13~15wt% of phenylethyl alcohol, 8~9.5wt% of pentadecane, and 8~9wt% of heptadecadien by the total weight. The content of p-menthane-7-ol is 5~9wt%. The essential oil of the paeonia suffruticosa is extracted with a SPME(solid phase micro extraction) method.
