Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for preparing an essential oil fraction from Apricot kernel, which strongly suppresses tyrosinase activities, is provided to ensure excellent effect of essential ingredients, and to produce high quality cosmetic product. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing an essential oil fraction containing a large amount of essential oil ingredients comprises: a step of adding water, C1-C4 alcohol, or a mixture thereof to Apricot kernel and extracting an essential oil extract containing a large amount of essential oil ingredients using a Clevenger type apparatus; a step of completely removing a water ingredient from the extract; a step of shielding the light and stirring at 0-100 deg. C for 10 minutes to 4 hours to remove moisture; and a step of filtering the extract and removing foreign materials. A cosmetic composition for skin whitening contains the essential oil fraction as an active ingredient.
