Abstract: PURPOSE: A cosmetic and/or dermatological composition containing one or more flavylium salts in a cosmetically acceptable support, and their use for giving artificial coloration closed to that of a natural tan to the skin are provided. As a result, the composition has better uniformity in coloration. CONSTITUTION: This composition comprises an effective amount of at least one flavylium salt compound formulated into a topically applicable, cosmetically/dermatologically acceptable vehicle, diluent or carrier therefor, wherein the flavylium salt compound is unsubstituted in position 3 thereof, but substituted with at least one hydroxyl and alkoxy radical in a cosmetically acceptable support. The flavylium salt compound is applied onto a fair skin at a rate of 2mg/cm¬2, having a ΔL ranging from -0.5 to -20 in the colorimetric measuring system to impart a skin coloration.
