Abstract: A method for searching an address book and a portable communication apparatus using the same are provided to facilitate the searching of an address book stored in a portable communication device. A controller arranges an address book based on the texts selected in displayed information, and a user interface unit displays the arranged address book. The controller includes a capturing unit(610), a text recognition unit(620) and an arrangement unit(630). The capturing unit captures an image within the preset arrange from a point selected by a user on a screen of the portable communication device. The text recognition unit recognizes the texts included in the captured image, and the arrangement unit arranges the address book based on the recognized texts.
