Abstract: An apparatus for inspecting a display panel and a method thereof are provided to form a landmark in an image photographing the display panel, thereby facilitating manufacture of the landmark. After a landmark is added to an image photographing a display panel, an image in which only the landmark is displayed is obtained(215). After a simple repetition pattern is generated along with a block of the display panel, an image of the display panel is photographed(216,217). A matching image is obtained(218). After an inspection pattern is generated on the display panel, an inspection image about the display panel is photographed(219,220). If a bad pixel is in the inspection image, location information of the bad pixel is obtained by comparing the inspection image with the matching image(221,222).

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for inspecting a display panel are provided to make it possible to compute position information of a defect, which is generated on a display panel, accurately. A pattern applying unit(10) applies at least one of a defect detecting pattern and a strip pattern to a display panel(100). The defect detecting pattern is formed to inspect a defect of the display panel, and the strip pattern is formed to extract position information of a black matrix.
